I seek your opinion on the shell on the left
I need your input on the build of the two desks in the image below. ===>> All hardwood construction: Quarter-sawn white oak, and (possibly) black walnut panels. desk-comparison.jpg 1. The executive knee-hole desk on the right is the original design I submitted. 30" x 60" top, 1-inch overha...

Re: V. 6 Build 4 crashing
Update:
One of the DLLs was damaged. I re-installed the M90-"certified driver" from the Dell web site, as the nVidia drivers did not work (NO idea why...)
It seems this has repaired the problem with V6-B4 <keeping fingers crossed...>

Re: V. 6 Build 4 crashing
Thanks, James.
So, if it is the video card, is the Quadro FX 2500M obsolete with eCabs?
hmm... I hope it does not mean it is time for me to upgrade the laptop

V. 6 Build 4 crashing
Sorry - I posted this in the Beta Testing forum... Hi, folks. Back after a long absence. I started using V6 Build 4 version, and kept getting the following error on ModName nvoght.dll, due to a "compatibility issue" (but I did not save the report generated at crash time): eCabs-version6-Be...

Re: Surgery successful
Dan,
GREAT! I wish you a speedy recovery. I guess by now you are driving, and getting around much better. THAT is what happens when I miss logging on for a few weeks at a time.

Re: Face frame and memory
I have a feeling the problem may be something else. Face frames do not normally slow down the rendering of eCabinet Systems software. I have no experience using the puzzle joints.

Re: XP 64
Michael,
What is the relationship between adding 1GB memory and Beta Testing? I am missing something...
The reason I bring it up: Beta testing has not caused me any problems. But, again, I must miss something.

Re: What Would You Like to See in Design Sharing?
Thanks, Jason. I now understand it much better!
I have designed all the office furniture using eCabinet Systems. As a result, the cut lists, etc., will be a part of this.

Re: Associating objects with a Wall and Presentation Mode
Martin, 1) In Detail Room, select the countertop and Associate to Wall. Then (from the Help Manual), make sure the cabinet is NOT associated with the wall, or it will also be hidden: Start in the Custom Layout main workspace with one or more walls: Associations include cabinets and other items that ...

Re: What Would You Like to See in Design Sharing?
John, That is the point of Design sharing. Your library using conventional machinery and construction techniques may be just what another member is looking for. Having a variety of libraries to pick from allows a new member to find joinery methods, etc. that are close to his own which cuts down how...

Pretty cool, Jim!
Suggestion: Create a LARGE job using plain old standard cabinets inserted into a Custom Layout, and render the job. Does it behave well, i.e., it does not crash, is the rendering speed OK?
Please let us know. Thanks!

It was under my nose all this time <sigh...> . Thanks, Dan!
No stretchers on this version, but mortise and tenon to attach boards to the legs. I needed this to be able to estimate the materials needed, as the client wants the quarter-sawn white oak, no plywood anywhere.

Sloped top, back to front
I cannot figure out how to slope the top of a cabinet, as on a drafting table. From about 8 hits doing a Search, I would use a display cube for the top, cut the sides to the proper slope, and place the display cube on the sides to the proper slope. Is this about right? A client is interested in a st...
