Re: part editor cuts
Thanks for all your help and suggestions. This might explain previous times where I just thought I had specified the dimensions wrong on a display cube and got the grain in the wrong direction.

Re: part editor cuts
Thanks, Dan. What I don't get is why it starts out with the grain in the right direction, and then switches. Shouldn't the grain stay the same regardless of where I do the tooling? Is this a glitch, or is there some logical reason for it? Or is it the Computer Ghouls----they were fussing with my fax...

Re: part editor cuts
If I do one contour cut, the grain stays the same. It's when I apply a second contour cut that the grain changes direction. I tried saving the cabinet, closing and reopening it, and doing the second cut then, but it still changes the direction of the grain.

Re: part editor cuts
The parts are 2" x 24" x 18" I'm using the closed contour to cut the 45 degree miters. The cuts are in the right place...the piece comes out just fine, except that the grain switched 90 degrees on the face (the 18x24 face) after I make the cuts. The grain on the edges stays the same, ...

part editor cuts
I have a new one for me. Trying to make a mitered console using wood grain display cubes. The grain needs to run the length of the top (this is primarily for presentation purposes, not construction at this point). I create the display cube, and the grain is going in the correct direction. When I cut...

Part Editor---contour cutting
Is there some magic number for cutting shapes out of a part in part editor? I have been trying to cut out a shape from a part (in this particular case, the deck) and when I go to cut through, it says it doesn't appear to be a closed contour. I have had this happen to me many times on many different ...

Re: Continued printing problems from line drawings
In regards to the JPG saving the dialog box when I save a jpg in Cabinet Editor or line drawing editor, I've had that problem as well. What I do is move the dialog boxes way over to the edge, so they are not covering any of the cabinet before I push Save. I move it all the way over so the save is ri...

Re: Line Drawing Editor---showing hidden lines
As a follow up---this also has happened to me when I've done a face frame elevation when I have dadoes in the back of the face frame. When I go to print the elevation, it shows the dado lines from the back on the print (but not in the line editor itself)

Line Drawing Editor---showing hidden lines
Has anyone had this problem? In line drawing editor, when it is printed (or print preview), it will print lines that are "hidden"---for example, if you're looking at the top elevation, and there are dadoes or rabbets on the underside, it will print those dado lines. It won't show in the li...

Re: 5.2 Crashing
I was having problems with freezing/crashing. I ended up working in 5.1, but it still had problems with running out of memory. I think I just had two much detail going on (I had it set to the lowest settings in ecabs for everything)---it was a kitchen with essentially two rooms of cabinets, crowns, ...

Re: User Defined materials
Hey Justin--- I've tried to upload the file to the forum, but it won't connect....I keep getting a timeout. (Is there a limit to size?) I've been creating the same kitchen simultaneously on my laptop in 5.1, and on my desktop in 5.2. The file for the 5.2 kitchen is about 24mg. So far the kitchen in ...

Re: User Defined materials
I thought I tried to do that, and got an error message that the file already existed so I'd have to rename it (didn't give me the option of overwriting). The 5.2 issues are on another forum thread (which I unsuccessfully tried to upload a file to several times today, hence my thought that I was curs...

User Defined materials
Okay, tell me what I"m doing wrong. I think I have a tech-cloud hanging over my office. Long story short-----5.2 is causing me no end of grief on my laptop. It's also causing grief on my desktop. So, since I have a $50,000 kitchen job resting on getting this rendering done, I've set my laptop b...

Re: 5.2 Crashing
I un-installed and reinstalled the update and the freezing is still occurring. It's also happening my desktop computer. I've played a little with other, older jobs and it's not doing it, so I think it's some glitch in that specific job. I'm taking the individual cabs and assemblies and re-installing...
