c-marker adjust

Thanks Carl, i made the adjustment, everytime i did i homed the machine and got the tables close to lined up to each other. I didn't need to re-set the tool pick up locations though. I think we absolutely need to normalize both tables to get back to normal. I'm just the operator, managment has the s...

C-marker adjustment

We just had the ballnuts changed on both tables of our machine. The technician did not normalize each axis properly after doing this. Actually he didn't even normalize at all. This caused problems when production got started because the axis with the bar tool changers was off signifiganly enough to ...

collets

Hey guys, i thought id put in a few cents here. We use a product called Rust free on our collets and holders where there may be rust like build. It comes together with another product called T-9 which is a waterproof lubricant, both are made by Boeing. We use another product called LPS, an industria...

ATC issues

Thanks for the input however, the situation i'm refering to is way different. We've had tools stick and have had to raise Z up. Our rare problem happens just after the tool change or just before. After the tool is removed and the next tool has been succesfully put in the spindle, the Z axis will rai...

ATC issues

We have a model 42 with 4 bar style and the 5 type writer tool positions. The issue is with the typewriter tool changing. Occasionally it will stop in the middle of a tool change. We will see the blue screen and it says ATC took too long to retract. No alarm, does NOT go into E-stop. My questions ar...

You could also check the typewriter arm to see if its bent. They are alumium, and we've had almost every kind of problem that can accompany this style tool changer. If for some reason the arm get stuck and whips back, that can cause it to bend. And i'd also recomend all the other previous suggestion...

Hi Michael, solid surface is what i work with. We cut solid surface on our Thermwood with a 3 flute down spiral, Onsrud bit, i'm pretty sure it's onsrud. We cut 1/2\" material 20,000 RPM at 600 IPM, Works great. For 1 1/8\" material you could try and run it at similar RPM and IPM, just low...

wood carving suggestions

Need suggestions on why our carvings are coming out looking choppy or with flat spots. Art cam was used to program it, also has a tangancy factor of 8. When i reduce the tanfac the quality gets better but the program run time increases signifigantly. here's the catch, this program was being ran on a...

Tool measureing feed rate

Someone metioned to me (a boss) that the Z axis feedrate should be increased because it was going down to the sensor so slow during tool measureing. I tried to explain that it's a Thermwood setting and probably shouldn't be messed with. Is it possible or safe to change, or should those settings be l...

Thank you for all the input so far. Although, my original question has still has not been answered. Maybe it's a thermwood secret :wink? I did jump the gun previously, it actually does nothing when changed. A further look into the detail of the carving revealed there was no change in quality.

OK, could you elaborate more on it's potential function and purpose? I previously increased the value (before this topic) in small increments just to see what it would do . It actually looked as if was improving the quality.

Thank you.
