Re: Something to think about

It can all be out sourced. That is the problem... There is no job that can not be outsourced. The only option I can see, realistically, is for a national backlash taking root. The people of the US, and other countries really, need to come back to their roots and remember what made our country great....

Re: Blizzard hits Georgia, closes schools

Wow, we woke up this morning to -24f. And that is not the coldest it's been this year. We had 4 days in a row that the thermometer read 30 below and colder. The worst this year being -37f. School was only canceled twice due to windchills of -60f. That is 60 degrees Fahrenheit below zero for those of...

Re: Timer

So, to elaborate on Ryan's post... If you call up the START at the beginning of the program and END at the end, above the M02 it will only time the amount of time the machine is running/cutting If you are looking to time button to button cycles so you can have time for part removal, cleanup, etc bet...

Re: Using locators with a Thermwood

Yes. It is the main way we locate fixtures on our 5 axis machines. I even use it for sheet stock on the 3 axis. Process is exactly the same on a Thermwood as it is on Mills and lathes.

Re: Warm up Program

I will get it to you guys early next week. Both the warm up and the oiler program. I am working from home today so I don't have access to them. But Monday or Tuesday I will get them out to you. Do you guys have 3 axis or 5 axis machines? I have programs for both.

Re: Warm up Program

I make mine to ramp up as well. I run for 2 minutes each at 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, 10,000 and 1 minute each at 14,000 and 18,000 RPM. 12 minutes warm up time allows my operators just enough time to do daily maintenance prior to running. I also make sure the head is in the center of the table and ha...

Re: Tool stuck in spindle

Doesn't your machine have the tool lockout switch? If it does, flip that, then hold the green button to release the tool. It sometimes takes a while, but it will release manually then. If needed, a small and light rubber mallet tapped very lightly on the tool as you hold said green button will relea...

Interesting that it happens. That it will add it to the program like that. Our situation is always that an operator hits the E-Stop. I always have M48 in my program, but that doesn't help much if the operator still thinks the tool will hit the part or what have you. They will still squash the stop. ...

M241

So, what is the deal with the M241(ghost macro)? I know it magically appears if you E-Stop during any part of a tool change. But why? Where does it come from, why is it there and why does there seem to be no real fix for it? I know you reset and home, reload the program, run rebuild and all that, bu...

It appears as though you have water and/or oil build up in your air lines. If you have an air dryer, check to see that it is working properly. If it is, remove your air regulator bowl from the machine, empty it, dry it out and replace the filter. It will not clean out the spindle itself, but it will...

Typically speaking, doesn't your MRP Software do all this? Or at least the vast majority of it?
If not, then I could definitely see the benefit.

Grease and oil!! We have a couple machines that do this as well, and aside from the codes Ryan mentioned, we have found that adding grease and oil, including a very thin coat hand applied to the rails and screws, will generally solve this problem.
