Hey - Thanks for all the response. Now, I better get back to work and finish this design. I guess I'm just a little nervous about pulling the trigger the first time. I know what it's going to cost me to cut and build everything myself, and I'm just afraid I'll hose something up when I use the produc...

Doors - Buy or Build?

for the small shop who will be outsourcing my sheet cutting work to a production partner, is it generally more cost effective to buy doors or to have them cut by the production partner?

Yes, I saw that it would export to stl. I'm going to try getting some of my carvings into ecabinets and over to a production sharer to find out if they'll cut ok. I have a whole nautical theme with centers, medalions, etc that is great for redoing yacht galleys or doing kitchens in a nautical theme....

Thank you. I have a lot of designs already laid out as surfaces in Rhino, so if I can find a way to use them, that would be wonderful.

I'll check out that software link as well.

How does the rental system work. I see a per-cycle charge. Is a cycle one instance of the carving?

Are the carvings scalable?

Here's a quick one. Part of a set I'd like to use in a nautical themed set.

Thanks for the example. Did you put those dados in manually using the parts editor? They don't look like the full or blind dados I was getting, and when I looked at the construction settings, the joint types were blank in most joints. Never Mind. I just noticed the blind dado settings, doh! Thanks a...

If I can re-create them in parts designer, will it work then?

Maybe what I should do it bring one in and get it to a production sharer for evaluation?

Thanks. I'm downloading it now.

So once I convert them into stl files, I can get them into eCabinets. Having a production sharing partner cut them should be possible then?

Carvings

You all have been a great help and my design is coming along quite nicely. Next question: I have 3ds files of carvings I modelled in Rhino as surfaces. Can I bring these into eCabinets somehow and have them cut on the CNC? By the way. I am a very experienced 3D modeller in Rhino3D, so I'd be happy t...

Thanks. That is the information I was looking for. I don't remember exactly which post it was I read, but I do recall the flop-ops and getting proper fit tolerances being the issues. I would like to use blind dados nearly exclusivly as well, simply from an ease of assembly and strenght of constructi...

Blind dado question

I was reading through the forums and I saw a post where someone said blind dados were a problem for some production sharing providers.

Is this still the case and will using blind dado contruction increase my costs with a production sharer?

Thanks

It would be great if there was a place we could post hole patterns that we have created for hardware that doesn't have an associated hole pattern, so that we could share and complete the hole patterns for the hardware in the catalog.

But will the drawers be sized appropriatly to accomodate the slide, or does this have to be manually done within the cabinet design?
