Re: Controlling the Ramp-in Location

I don't think what you're asking for is possible with TWD files, maybe with DXF files. When we need the best possible finish on MDF, we set control nesting to double pass everything and do the first pass as a climb cut and the final pass conventional. Yes, it takes longer, but it also has the added ...

Re: What CAD software do you use to create DXF files for Control Nesting?

If you are running Aspire or V Carve Why would you bother to run thru Control Nesting ? We never run dxf files thru control nesting Hi Will, We create plenty of nc code using V-carve but it falls short when: - We need labels (all of our parts go to other shops) - There are a lot of flip operations ...

Thanks Forest.
No. BobCad broke everthing starting with V22.

What CAD software do you use to create DXF files for Control Nesting?

We run a lot of layered DXF files through control nesting. I've been using Bob-Cad V21 for many years and they won't sell me another copy for the new guy. We can't figure out how to get clean layer names out of Fusion 360. V-Carve Pro and BobCad V28 truncate DXF layer names at about 26 characters, s...

Control Nesting on a PC

I'm sure I saw an announcement or email or something about running control nesting (for a Thermwood) on a PC.... but can't find anything about it now.
Can someone point me towards the info please.

Thanks.

Regards,
Dave

Re: Pocket tool

Rob, Just checking if you found a magic forumula. I've always come down to: if sharpening costs a little less than new and they don't last quite as long as new, I should save myself any potential complications due to smaller diameter, do fewer tool changes, and not handle/track them for sharpening.....

Re: Pocket tool

Larry, This would be a useful upgrade to CN. The same way drill operations are changed to pocket operations (when a large enough drill or interpolate tool is not available); it would be helpful if CN could change all types of dado operations to pockets when all the rout operation tools are too small...

Terry,
You're wrong. Check the manual.

Bad KD holes - CN 5.47

The "pockets" created for KD fitting holes in the attached file are bad. See code starting at Line 4209, Sheet:3 part:5 (T20) in attached CNC file. By changing T20 to allow interpolation, we're up and running. With T20 as pocket tool, no drill or interpolation for T20, convert line and arc...

Re: CN Feature Request- One DXF Multiple parts

Larry, Thanks for the quick feedback. We work with BobCad and when we hide (or "blank" as BobCad calls it) the data is still in the DXF file and "visible" to CN. If I'm understanding your suggestion correctly, your CAD package saves only the visible data to the file? Is that Auto...

Re: max penetration and speed problem

On second thought, this may not be the same problem... but the "max feed size" may still get you around it.

Re: max penetration and speed problem

This problem has been acknowledged by Thermwood.

Until it's fixed you can work around it by setting your "Max feed size" smaller so the speed reduction doesn't kick in.

CN Feature Request- One DXF Multiple parts

A while back there was a release of CN that added some type of single or composite file interface for KCDW and perhaps others. It would be very helpful to have a similar capacity for DXF files we create in CAD programs, where one DXF file can contain many parts to be nested by CN . To give you an id...
