Looking for a Machine Owner in my region

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a machine owner in my region that would be interested in machining parts for me. We're located in Blacksburg, VA 24060. I need a shop with a 3 axis cnc that can process 4x8 panels. Give me a shout if you are interested in some repetitive business. No assembly, no finishi...

Need Small Fixture Machined

I need a small fixture machined from mdf, rough dimensions are 7.5 x 7.5 x 1.5". It's all 2d machining. MDF can be glued up. If the fixture works, would like at least one fixture to be machined from a block or nylon or UHMW. I'm estimating machine time about 10 minutes in mdf. Tools probably wo...

Thanks Ryan, no problem. Holidays always screws things up! The tool holder issue is seperate from the "Tooling" issue.

Re: Cope & Sticking Entry Doors on Model 40

Ryan, I did contact THM's Retrofit dept. twice. They were going to work up a cost to retrofit one or all 4 of the bar style tool changers to accomodate larger tooling. I haven't rec'd any further info as of yet.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Cope & Sticking Entry Doors on Model 40

Damon, It turns out that it isn't so simple to modify the tool holders to accomodate anything greater than 3" dia. We would have to do manual tool changes to/from the large diameter tools. I have seen videos of cnc's machining entry door cope/stick with tooling much smaller than 10" dia. b...

Cope & Sticking Entry Doors on Model 40

Hi, Is there anyone cope and sticking entry doors with their Thermwood? The doors that I'm thinking about processing on the cnc are 1.75" thick. We have several doors coming up that have radiused top and mid rails. If you are stick and coping entry doors, what tooling are you using? I heard tha...

Re: Large Diameter Tools with Bar Tool Holders

Forrest, yep, I'm in GA now! Beaches, sun, warm weather! Jim Williams, Unique Building Supplies bought my machine and hired me on as the GM. The market in VA completely dried up. I found out from programming that the yaxis distance the machine moves to insert the tool and the raise z-axis after pick...

Bar Style Tool Holders and 4.5" diameter tools

Hey Everyone, I want to use one of my bar style tool holders (side entry) to station a tool with a larger diameter, like an insert panel raising cutter. The tool OD is 4.409 (112mm) and will hit the vertical bar of the tool holder. I know there has to be some of you using larger diameter tools. Anyo...

Large Diameter Tools with Bar Tool Holders

Hey Everyone, For those of you raising center panels on your Thermwood, which brand of cutters are you using that work with the side entry bar style tool holders? I was looking at the Amana #RC-4003 but it's overall diameter is 4.409" which means it will hit the vertical bar as it's inserted in...

Re: For Sale???

Is this prohibited? Today, I was looking for the classifieds section that used to be on the Thermwood site to post our machine and couldn't find it.

Re: Consistent Chipload

Forrest, Thanks for the data. I'm plunging alot slower, 150ipm. The tech that set up the machine had said that was a good plunge rate. I was told that plunging was the hardest on the spindle bearings and I wanted to insure I didn't plunge too fast and damage them. Of course, if you have been running...
