Mastercam and Thermwood

I am getting my feet wet with Mastercam and I know that it comes with a default router, but I am having a hard time finding how to configure a router so that I can use our Thermwood and generate G-code that SuperControl 91000 can read and use. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Collets

I have read that a collet should be replaced after 3 mos. if you are using it 8 hours per day. Not closely watching the nine tools I have set up on our machine, is there a way to visually examine the collet and determine it needs to be replaced?

Here are some more clues. On those parts designated as left sides, the groove for the bottom is cut correctly. For those parts designated as a right side, the groove for the bottom is too shallow.

Dove Tail Drawer Box Issue

We seem to be having a problem very recently with our dove tail drawer boxes. It seems the final outline cut ignores the wasteboard thickness and leaves an onion skin approximately the thickness of the waistboard. Around the dovetails however it is cut cleanly to the table. In watching the final out...

A Little Math help with Asymmetric Tools

I just started working with solid MDF doors and I am trying to mimic a stile and rail door we recently made. To make this door we need to create an asymmetrical tool, which seemed to work fine. The door has 1.75\" stiles and rails. It is square on the outside of the stiles and rails but has a q...

Dove Tail Tooling

I purchased the tooling to do dovetail drawers on our CS-45 using the new capabilities provided in version 5 of eCabinets software. I can't seem to find any reference to how the tooling should be set up in the router so that it differentiates a 1/2\" dove tail tool from any other 1/2\" bit...

Cutter Compensation and CAD Path

I am trying to use Cutter Compensation (G41) with CAD Path. I am getting an error if I put the Compensation commands in the source files or if I leave them out and then go back and put them into the CAD Path output file. What am I missing?

I have been reading this thread with great interest and have gotten a lot of good tips out of it. Thank you to all who shared their knowledge and experience. As a result of reading this thread, I flycut my spoilboard on both sides 0.1\" on each. I then decreased the value between the top of the...

Rolling Nest and Excell

I was setting up to cut some simple rectangular panels and I thought I would give the Excel spreadsheet approach a try. I called up the example on Rolling Nest and followed it. However when I tried to open the sheet in Rolling Nest the program aborted. I tried it again with the same result. Any ideas?

Dave,

Thanks for your, as usual, helpful feedback. I started watching more closely how the smaller bits handled dados and it does appear to me that a dado along the X axis plunges where along the Y axis it ramps.

I will double check my Rolling Nest settings for your suggestions.

Plunging too hard?

We are using 1/2\" backs on our cabinets with a full dado and with a small fit tolerance (.012) the router was choosing a 1/4\" bit and make two passes and leave a small sliver of material in the middle of the dado slot. This required our assembly to sand it out. By removing the fit tolera...

Thanks, Dave. Based on your comment, I took a quick hack at a display cube and started seeing the possibilities. I'll give a shout if I get bogged down.

Curved Woodwork

We are about to bid on a job for cabinetry for a restaurant/bar. Although the existing bar will stay, I would like to show that to the client as we propose the cabinetry that goes behind the bar. The bar is curved. I don't know how to do that in eCabinets. Can that be done in eCabs or do I have to g...
