Shrinking Mortises To Fit Part Cut In Part Editor - How?

Hello: We are using eCabinets for a CNC project in my college cabinetmaking course. Being a new user of eCabinets , I have run into a problem that I am sure one of you veterans may know the solution for. I have designed a coffee table ( 01-coffe-table.jpg ) made from a cabinet with Blind Dado joiner...

Ah, Thanks very much for your replies, Scott and Daniel.

I'll look those up (he said hoping one of those programs are free but braces for disappointment).

3D Studio Max Files To CNC-ready File - How?

Hello: I am an experienced 3D artist learning cabinetmaking in college now and am trying to transfer my 3D skills into the area of CNC. With 3D Studio Max, we build objects using polygon meshes and while I am told one can tranfer 3D Studio Max files to a CNC machine, I never found out exactly how th...

THM, please refund Tom's Money....... Damned straight. I want every one of my magic beans returned to me. Ok. Mea culpa. Re: DXF File in Contour Mode in PE Loading Wrong

Thanks for that link, Kerry ! I will see about learning it when downtime between classes allow. As for the DXF files, yes, they were created in 3DS Max and I have just learned they can only be exported to DXF as mesh objects which makes them incompatible with eCabinets . Looks like I am out of luck ...

Re: DXF File in Contour Mode in PE Loading Wrong

Hi Scott: Really? I exported my shape as a mesh because other than splines (which i know eCabinets won't recognize), there was no other way to produce a shape using 3DS Max. At least no other way I have used before but it is something I should look into. I will see what other methods of drawing shap...

Re: DXF File in Contour Mode in PE Loading Wrong

Thanks, Scott. I knew that but just to be safe, I tried orienting the objects differently in 3DS Max in different orientations before exporting them. While it did make a difference, they just showed up in eCabinets messed up slightly differently (the Nazi SS shaped line was squished vertically, slig...

Re: how To Scale/Move Rectangles/Circles in Part Editor?

Thanks, Scott and Kerry:

Since this is a different problem, I made a new thread (with uploaded screenshot and the DXF file in question in case that helps) here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12764

Thanks, again!

DXF File in Contour Mode in PE Loading Wrong

Hello: While trying to teach myself about eCabinets , I used the Load Geometry feature to load a DXF file in Contour Mode to cut a hole but something is going very wrong. I created the shape and exported it from 3D Studio Max 2011 . The shape was NOT splines (I know splines won't work when importing...

Re: how To Scale/Move Rectangles/Circles in Part Editor?

Thanks, Kerry . I am trying to load DXF files in the Countour Mode but things aren't working as they should. I will probably just start a new thread since it is a different topic from the one I originally asked about. Also, is there a wishlist thread on this forum where people can suggest features/c...

Re: how To Scale/Move Rectangles/Circles in Part Editor?

Hi Dennis:

thanks very much for your input on this. I will definitely try the importing of DXF files as that seems to be the most straight-forward way to me.

I appreciate you mentioning this.

Cheers!

Re: how To Scale/Move Rectangles/Circles in Part Editor?

Scott, Yes those tools are available in eCabinets. The eCabinets programmers have kept the tools very simple while still providing the the features needed to build cabinets. These tools meet the needs of a cabinet shop but of course are not adequate for a graphic design artist. To provide the tools...
