Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
Thanks Dennis. That makes total sense. 99% of the cabinets on this project are parts that could be oriented in either direction. I did ask them about assembly marks and they said they 'just don't use them'. To me, assembly marks seem like a no brainer as you just set all our dado insets the same and...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
Regarding the different insets on the opposite ends of the blind dados, no there is no flip operation required and the parts are symmetrical as they are just full tops, bottoms and backs of standard cabinets. Also, they are even flat packing all of each set of cabinet parts separately. I am loathe t...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
Thanks. I am understanding this better all the time. But, of course, I have a few more questions I hope that can be answered: 1. I'll have to take a look at the CNC cutting my test cabinet when I am at the Thermwood Shop next month as I thought the material being cut sat right on the flat bed and wa...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
Thanks. The veneered pb core I am using has a lesser quality (A3 or A4) veneer on the flip side. I thought all veneered pb core or plywood core did. Plywood core has a greater tendency not to be of uniform thickness (esp the 'China Ply') and to warp and twist while stored,. In order for me to unders...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
If the material is a different thickness than what was programmed for then the dado depth will be off. The fit clearance wouldn't be affected as the machine is referencing the bottom of the sheet and leaving the tenon thickness specified, however the joint would no longer be perfectly flush. You mi...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
Thanks! That is exactly the kind of analysis and advice I was looking for. I do have a direct line to the factory that is going to be fabricating the 3/4" material so I will find out from them what the thickness is designed to be before fabrication and then after fabrication. I am pretty sure t...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
Design your self a small cabinet 12" x 12" x 12" and see for your self the result of your setting changes and flip ops I totally agree with designing a test cabinet and adjusting the clearances as required. I would right now if I could. But, the project is being outsourced and the co...

Factors affecting fit and depth clearances
Hi. I am doing my first eCabinets project (which happens to be a large one) and am trying to understand what the fit clearance and depth clearance variables depend upon, or depend more upon. I am going to be using a domestic (Canadian) 3/4" 120g veneer particle board core material and blind dad...

Re: General Concept of eCabinets
... I find it easier to just use the batch editor unless you have to make drawings/ renderings for approval; I find the custom layout process too time consuming for production runs... Thanks so much for that advice, which makes a lot of sense, especially for this size of job. I do have 11 rooms wit...

Re: General Concept of eCabinets
I figured it out. I didn't know you had to be in 'Create a room/custom layout' to see what you mentioned as you did not specify. Ok, now that I figured that one out, I am designing about 70 cabinets for a a 2 floor home using all the same materials, joinery method, pulls, etc. Do I have to have all ...

Re: General Concept of eCabinets
I'm on 6.0 Build 10 and I think I am clicking where you said but when I right click I see what is below. I don't see any 'Change Materials'. Also, the right sidebar does not show 'Adjust Cabinet Features'. Am I clicking in the right place? (By the way, I have been through the video tutorials twice n...

General Concept of eCabinets
This may be a silly question but I just want to confirm something before I embark on my first and large project with eCabinets. Is the general concept of eCabinets that you must create the type of cabinet you want (thickness, material, joinery type & dimensions, edgebanding etc) and then duplica...

Re: Bug in the software or me? Please help.
Thanks for your explanation. I have watched all of the videos twice, but did not grasp the concept that it was possible to preset the relationship between doors, drawer faces and shelves such that changing the reveals did not change them. I would like to know what setting that is in case I encounter...

Re: Bug in the software or me? Please help.
Thanks, so I take it then that there is something in this cabinet, which is the 'Sink Base 24' cabinet that I downloaded from the ESL6872 library when you load eCabinets, that is making these doors and drawer face act this way? I did notice that if I deleted the shelf that sits between the drawer an...

Bug in the software or me? Please help.
I'm a newbie and could just be doing something wrong, but I've spent a couple hours on this and still can't make it work. I have a very simple sink cabinet which I modified slightly (only to take out a nailer and indent the back differently). I am now trying to change the reveals on the fixed drawer...
