Re: Bringing Furniture Business to Cabinetmakers

Existing designs that are similar to those offered in YouBuild are not a problem. These provisions are in the program to prevent gross misconduct, not to penalize a shop for building something similar to the products we offer. Common sense is the rule here.

Re: Bringing Furniture Business to Cabinetmakers

We will be adding some basic knock down cabinets that use lock dado joints fairly soon. We are also working to be able to offer five piece doors as well as slab doors. We are trying to sort out the fact that a majority of cabinets are face frame and that adds some additional problems. We are also wo...

Re: Bringing Furniture Business to Cabinetmakers

I’ll do my best to address these areas although some detail might vary slightly. As for all-fall, since there are a limited number of materials used, the system automatically remembers any significant all-fall and nests on it the next time the material is used. The system tells you when and how to l...

Re: Bringing Furniture Business to Cabinetmakers

We'll have to look into why you can't get the 3D thing working. That app is a but touchy but is GREAT when it is working. If you don't mind our folks may contact you to see if we can sort this out. The other software is the only way to do the things we need to do right now. A lot of what is going on...

Re: Bringing Furniture Business to Cabinetmakers

Thanks for the nice comments. I was also surprised that there were not more comments but your post broke the ice. As for Shop Bot, it is not possible for them to run YouBuild. In fact it is not possible to run it on older Thermwood controls. Its operation requires multiple processors each processing...

Re: Is youbuild.com going to be like production sharing???

I’m not really sure what is going on with Cabinetnotch although I have been aware of it for some time. As I said, we are not that focused on cabinets. As for competitors, the technology to do this is starting to emerge so programs of this type will emerge. We have focused on a niche that I think can...

Re: Is youbuild.com going to be like production sharing???

Let me see if I can explain what is going on. First, you posed a lot of questions and the answer to most of them is the same. “We don’t know.” YouBuild is a business concept and support technology looking for a real world application. Its target market is probably a bit different than your target ma...

Re: V6-4 Running slow very slow

6.4 is faster than the previous release. We didn't say anything about it because we still believe the system is way too slow. Speeding up the software is THE major task we are working on. We feel that our users will benefit more from a really fast system than from any additions we could add at this ...

Re: Come Out, Come out, where ever you are

Within Thermwood we have a standard answer for the question “When will it be done?” The answer came from an interview with a young (and inexperienced) TV reporter interviewing stone carver working on Stone Mountain Monument outside Atlanta. They have been carving for generations. She asked him, “Whe...

Re: Come Out, Come out, where ever you are

Here’s the scoop. First, it’s taken awhile to debug V6 as many of our beta testers are slow and are not using the software as much as in the past. We were ready to release but decided to wait until a new major release of one of the key licensed software packages to make sure we were using the latest...

Re: CabinetShop 43 Performance Videos

Georgi, This machine is a grand experiment in a totally new way for us to make machines. Instead of using expensive steel tubing, we start with a sheet of steel and laser cut all the parts which then interlock, like a blind dado on a cabinet. The base is then welded and stress relieved. The result i...

Re: Low Cost, High-Performance CabinetShop 43

We are not exactly publishing prices because each shop may want different options and there are freight and duty considerations if shipped outside the US but the base price is currently under $60K. You will add another $10K - $20K depending on what you want with it so over all it is about a third le...

Re: A New Approach to Custom Cabinets

I think our new control nesting system may do what you want. If you use a color label printer, a color code dot will be printed on each label to indicate which cabinet the part belongs to. The red parts are one cabinet, the blue parts another, etc. This makes sorting into individual cabinets easier....

Re: A New Approach to Custom Cabinets

The 4x8 41 is still availab le but it costs more than the 5x10 43. Power requirements are not that much different and both require a transformer for 220V. You can get the 43 with rollers so you can move it out of the way when you don't need it which might help some.

A New Approach to Custom Cabinets

We have developed a new approach to nested based production that makes running custom cabinets easier than ever so I thought I would tell you about it. The new approach is based on running cabinets and closets at one of three levels. The easiest level, which is new, we call “QuickCut”. It targets fo...
