Learning to read your post processor and make changes ,
is part of the Game when using vectric on your Thermwood
Since you will no longer be using Control Nesting to write code and run your machine

... If you are not using the Fixture Offset Table, you can delete this line, then replace with what you are using (G901, G51, G92, etc). Or you can replace the 1 with the correct number you are using. The post can be edited in a Notepad so you don't have to change every file you post from Vcarve.

hi I'm new to vcarve and dealing with post processors and found these posts that clint posted.
the G52L1 on line 105 i have a question about
why is it here? i don't have a fixture offset set up but it moving my pieces on the Y axis down not tight to the end

if anyone else has tips or tricks please ...

My answer is not going to help much but I have a set of "true diameter" tools that I only use with VCarve. You set your specific diameters of tooling in the vcarve library so I don't worry about accidentally using a 0.485" old sharpened end mill when it should be a "true" 0.5".

I’m not sure if that is something that can be done in the post processor that you are using or not if not then you could just change the diameters in the tool database in vetric for the tool/ tools that you have remeasured

I am currently new to using Thermwood CNC's, model 43 and MTR30. The issue I am having is with Vcarve and the automatic tool measuring. The machines are set up to measure diameter and length while the tool runs. Because we send bits for sharpening, our sizes can vary and but with our cabinet vision ...

My workaround has been using digital calipers and adjusting material thickness and depth of cut manually in vcarve but I'm getting to the point where this just doesn't cut it anymore as the projects I'm doing now are getting more complex with tighter tolerances ...

I would take Brads McIntosh's advice and perhaps get a program like Vectric VCarve Pro or similar and have the output code or output post programed for your machine.
Its designed to do that sort of thing, lettering and signs and ...

I did this in Vectric VCarve Pro in about 5 minutes.

Imported the raster image.
Traced the raster image.
Quickly fixed up the vectors. (Could use a little more "massaging".)
Defined a "Profile" tool path with "square corners".
