For me it's usually easier to just do a large display panel and take it to the editor and cut it the way I want. For counter tops you have to have a cabinet there first. If you do that, just texture the display panel the same as your couters and you can place it anywhere you like.
On the "PAY TO PLAY" issue, I have a few thoughts.
First if someone purchased a thermwood machine, or even the shopbot link with the agreed upon notion that the sofware was and would remain free, that would be unfair to make those folks pay more money for what they knew was free going into it ...
I have a more basic request for an improvement that would help me. It involves construction parameters. I would like to be able to enter some default information and any cabinet that I would put into the cabinet editor could be changed to my preferences by clicking on my default parameters.

It seems like the Cabinets available for placing in the display on the right have every bit of information in them instead of just a link to where they are. If you have every bit of info on every cabinet in your library up at one time, that has got to be bogging down and freezing pc's everywhere ...
The display cube box seems to just open up a place for me to make a display cube. It didn't do anything to the cabinet. Still locking up, but not quite as often.
I like all the new features, but I hate having to buy a new pc everytime the program is upgraded. I don't care for the forced upgrade ...
