Re: Interesting screen while viewing room layout

Kerry, I'm finding that I can only go about 15 minutes between shut down and restart. It makes it tough to be productive when you have to shut down and restart your work flow that often. I sure hope the next build is going to speed things up and stabilize things a lot better. As of now, version 6 mi...

Re: Interesting screen while viewing room layout

Joe, When I switched from CE back to room layout mode, it took the lower left portion of the eCabs window and put it into the area where the room layout should have been. If you look closely at the entire image, you can see the lower left portion of the screen replicated in the room layout window. T...

Interesting screen while viewing room layout

I was working on a cabinet doing some edits and when I tried to return to room layout I got this very interesting screen. I had to exit eCabs loosing a little bit of work and restart it again. I'm looking forward to a stable version of this software that can be used without worrying about it crashin...

Re: New registration everytime I start?

Just did a reformat and rebuild on my machine. Upgraded from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro. A LOT of problems have gone away since rebuilding the machine. I run a Dell XPS with quad core processor, 6GB ram and a Radeon 4800 series graphics card with 1GB memory. I've loaded the latest build of eCab...

Re: New registration everytime I start?

I use two anti-virus programs. McAfee and another one called SpyBot. SpyBot scans deeper and more thoroughly then McAfee.

Search for SpyBot Search & Destroy.

Re: New registration everytime I start?

The randomness of errors leans towards a possible virus? Do you have anti-virus software?

Re: Ecabinets slooooooowing down...

That's a past life. When I left the computer field in 2000 I calculated I had written, over the course of 18 years, about 25 million lines of code. That's changing the polarity of a lot of magnetic bits on hard drives. And that's why I am now a woodworker. At least I can see what I've done after a h...

Re: Speed of V6 varies with use?

Hi Rob, What you are seeing on the resource monitor is that eCabs is, in fact, a single threaded (serial executing) application. The OS cannot move a single threaded piece of code across multiple CPU's. It is a very deliberate and conscientious coding methodology to get an application to be able to ...

Re: Speed of V6 varies with use?

Having been a software developer for almost 18 years (mainframes, Unix, DOS, Windows) - before becoming a woodworker - the slowing of a machine over time when using an application was a sign of memory leaks in the program. As a program chugs along, it allocates and deallocates memory for internal us...

Re: After the bugs are fixed in V6

Gary, I'm diving in after you! :D :D If it's a pay or loose eCabs - I will pay. "Pay for features" might be a way for Thermwood to help offset some of their development costs. For example - ShopBot-Link is a pay for feature of eCabinets. By itself SBLink, is not much value. However, combin...

Re: After the bugs are fixed in V6

You're right Gary, this was turning in to a laundry wish list. Sorry. Getting back to your original post, yes it would be great to be able to design our own doors without having to use the library. It would also be nice if we could get design data from door suppliers (I am moving in that direction f...

Re: After the bugs are fixed in V6

Another useful application of this might be the ability to apply these settings across a job/room/batch of cabinets. Say you want to change the way upper cabinet stretchers, used as reinforcement for hanging a cabinet on the wall, are offset up/down from the bottom/top of all the cabinets, you could...

Re: Is it possible to have both v5.2 and v6 on the same computer

It's working fine on my computer with Windows XP Pro with 4GB memory and dual 23" monitors. If you call Thermwood they should be able to help you with this.
