Another inexplicable problem

I am getting the attached error message dialog when I try to go from drawer editor to main. As you can see in the 2nd picture, there are NO locks in the cabinet. There used to be locks but I deleted them. This problem sprung up when I try to have a vertical lock in the center top opening. I locked t...

Re: Drawer Fronts and Drawer Boxes

In addition to what Jesse said, I've found that sometimes you just have to abandon (delete) the cabinet and start over. Somehow parameters get so corrupted, there is nothing you can do to fix it. It takes less time to delete it and recreate it then it does to try and track down what is wrong and fix...

Re: SBLink and dovetail drawers

Thanks for the response Terry.

Did Thermwood help you thru the problem with cutting just stopping? Or did you just shelve the idea?

SBLink and dovetail drawers

Have any of the SBLink (Shopbot) users tried using the dovetail drawer boxes? If so, did it work? Was it a nightmare to get working properly? Was it tough dialing in the parameters? Does it require flip operations? What was the cost for bits, etc. to get it working? I use 5/8" Appleply for all ...

Re: Wow!!!

It's a good thing that part of my design process is to save each cabinet individually in a customer directory as well as put it in the room layout. That way I'm able to put cabinets "back" when they've been AI'd (take your pick on the meaning of AI) out of the room.

Wow!!!

I just love it when, for NO reason, eCabs just deleted a cabinet from my custom layout. I took a different cabinet to CE to make some changes, returned to room savings changes and viola! An unrelated cabinet is completely gone. :wall:

Re: Nesting issues

David, I did as you suggested and now it works. Thank you! I'm not sure what goes on internally with eCabs, but there must be some bugs lurking around in there. To have to delete an assembly like a drawer box and rebuild one so it will work right says there is some parameter corruption taking place ...

Re: Nesting issues

Just played with the GRAIN option, in define materials, by turning it on and off for the material and if I turn it off, all parts are nested cross grain. When it is checked, drawer sides are with the grain (expected) and tall fronts and backs are still cross grain.

Re: Nesting issues

Bumping this issue. Thermwood, this seems to be very repeatable. Here's what I'm doing: 1. I have a sheet of 5/8" Appleply in my defined materials 2. Has grain direction is checked. 3. Created a drawer box that has tall fronts and backs but short sides (a trash can drawer) 4. In drawer box edit...

Re: Nesting issues

I doubled checked the material specs and it does in fact have the "has Grain" checked. I'm working with the drawer box front for the lower drawer in this cabinet. I've attached a screen shoot of how the part is displayed in CE. As you can see, the grain is along the long axis of the part. ...

Nesting issues

Couple of things I've noticed and was wondering if there are settings I need to adjust to change this. First issue is the way I'm getting some parts kinda randomly placed on the sheet. "Picture 1" and "Picture 3" shows this. Part 34 and part 35 on "Picture 1" seem to be...

Thanks Dave!!

How do you get the formula in the constraint? That's exactly what I was looking for and couldn't figure out how to do.

Constraint Manager - help needed

I am designing a pull out tray for cabinets (drawer box). I have a half moon cut (PE) in the front part of the drawer. It is set to a certain width, say 5" wide. Tray (drawer box) file is attached. I'd like to constrain the half moon to 5" wide but have eCabs auto center it in the drawer f...

Re: Can't Adjust Cabinet Opening

I've had many inexplicable problems over the years with eCabs and found that just deleting the cabinet and starting over is the only way to move forward without wasting a bunch of time. Save yourself the frustration of trying to figure out. The only thing I've been able to deduce is that somehow the...
