Re: Dust shroud/skirt alternatives

I am also interested in this issue. It would seem to me that a 6" riser/dust shoe would restrict the flow much less. The 4" that's on the machine stock seems to restrict the volume of air that is pulling. It's moving pretty fast, but Ideally you want to move more volume, am I right? Maybe ...

Drawer locks

Is there a convenient way to set the drawerbox behind a drawerfront a set distance from the top edge of the front, rather than the bottom? When I place a drawer in a cabinet, with the parameters for bottom and top inset, it seems to be always referenced off the bottom of the drawerbox. That is if I ...

Re: DXF will not load

Control Nesting has to iterate through all the entities to piece together an operation. I found some bad geometry at spots on your dxf. I modified the drawing by putting in a few long lines and correcting the non-connected spots with bad geometry. I also segregated each chain for it's own layer. It...

I've been on the fence for while about this software, but have never had a competent person demo it. It looks like great software. I guess its time to put on the headset and roll through the tutorials.

Re: DXF will not load

That's correct. It was a stylized text that I scaled and fit in AI, then saved as DWG for ACAD. I weeded points in the polyline down to about 1/16th of an inch to preserve the shape and form, then converted from polyline to line segments because CN doesn't like polylines. Is there a better way? I do...

DXF will not load

Ive made and remade this dxf file that contains some text for a 2D sign. When I bring it into CN it locks the computer. Hard. Every time. Not sure what I have done wrong or what is causing it. Any help is appreciated, I've been tryin to get this cut for almost a week. :wall:

My cs43 does this now, I thought. I made mdf doors just the other day using profile modeler in CN. Is the corner cleanup improved, is that the "new" feature?

Re: holes missing from cabinets

At the risk of sounding like a smarta$$, check your boring bit tips. If the pattern is there and the code is right, then you should see your machine try to make the moves, too. Witness the program as it cuts. I've had a bad bit twist the tip right off. Sometimes, the simplest answer is one overlooked.

Custom Layout and LDE for Commercial Shops?

We do almost 100% commercial jobs and have been doing the shops for these on an old version of MV and/or AutoCAD. The shops are done by my superior in ACAD with the MV overlay. Both of the versions used are circa 2004. Because we don't really want to lay out the $ to keep these software versions upd...

Re: Bug in stretcher editor?

AHHHHH, you are right, there is something about the inset that interferes with the changing of the joinery on that edge. If I changed the negative inset back to 0 THEN change the joinery, it is allowed to change. Thanks for helping me thru that!

Re: Bug in stretcher editor?

My scratch cabinet does the same thing. If I go to the stretcher editor, set parameters and construction settings, everything looks good. I add and adjust my stretcher, and the joinery for the top edge displays an overlapping butt joint. If I check the editors construction settings, everything is ju...

Re: Bug in stretcher editor?

Definitely a glitch in the editor. Something to do with the order in which setting are changed. I took a previously designed cabinet, eliminated the partitions due to the reduced cabinet width ( and thus had to redo the fixed shelves), then added the fixed shelves back in. The phantom "stretche...

Re: standard outline cutter on MDF material

I believe that TOOLING GROUPS is the answer. I have Tooling groups set up for materials of similar thicknesses. However, some materials have different densities and require different tools, they have their own groups. That is, I tool 12mm MDF with an entirely different tool (and thus group) than I w...

Re: Drawerbox with an interior partition

These workarounds are great, and certainly get the job done. Scott, I love your videos! I need to binge watch them all and really spread my wings. I hope the software team is working on being able to do this in the drawerbox editor just the same. It's kind of a critical component for many types of c...
