Drill Bank Plunge rate

We're using the 9 spindle HSD drill bank to drill closet system thru holes in melamine. We're having to slow the plunge to 50ipm to get a decent hole quality with minimal chipout. We are using V-point bits (because we need thru holes) and have tried several brands and grinds. The bottom chipout is n...

Re: Buying a new PC

Rick, what do you think about a Dell Precision M4700 laptop running 3rd Gen Intel Core i7 3740QM at 2.7Ghz running windows 7 pro with 8GM Ram, and Quadro K1000M with 2GB? Know anything about the AMD Firepro M4000 mobility pro with 1GB? It's about $200 less than the Quadro.

Error message when applying hole pattern to pulls

When I try and apply a hole pattern to pulls I get the error message "The file does not exists on this system. The hole pattern will not be applied". It actually does apply it, but took me a while to figure it out. For instance I open a new cabinet, select the pull I want and then select t...

Unsaved cabinets even after I've just saved it...

I've had a glitch for a while now, whenever I close a cabinet in cabinet editor I always get the message "Are you sure you want to start over? There are unsaved cabinets in the current assembly". It does this when I haven't made any changes. I can open a cabinet and then close it without d...

Re: User part Name is great

Yes this feature is gold for me. I use part names to designate drilling patterns for my dowel inserter so I use this feature on every cabinet. The cut and paste feature is great. This is a big time saver for me. Also like that u can click on the part name and it will be highlighted on the cabinet. S...

Re: Tooling Choices

I second Forrest on the vortex xp. Vortex recommends 750 imp for the 3/8 and 900 for the 1/2 in melamine. Heat is the worst enemy of tool life. Refer to their chip load calculations to get the best results in other materials

Uninstall your norton 360

If your having problems with your typewriter locking up uninstall norton. I must have been sleeping in class the day Daniel told us never to even think about adding any software to the control. I had three or four techs trying to diagnose this problem for me over 6 months. I replaced the serial card...

Re: Auto lube on table rails not functioning well

What fixed it for me was a pinched air line. Also opened the mister wide open for a day and it seemed to flush everything out and then backed it down to 1 drop every 5 secs

Re: Slowest RPM

I run Forstner bits a lot. I use a 20mm for rafix fittings everyday. Just ran 1.25" for a special run. I think I run them at 10k and 100 imp plunge.

Re: Ecabs and Gannomat CNC dowel inserter

I figure out the spacing in line drawing editor and program the dowel inserter accordingly. I assign that program a name and label the parts with that name. The name is converted into a bar code by CN and then when it's scamnned it pulls that program up automatically. We use the same patterns alot. ...

Ecabs and Gannomat CNC dowel inserter

Believe it or not, thanks to Daniel at TWD, our ecabs now talks to our Gannomat CNC dowel inserter via barcode. In ecabs I label the parts that get dowels with a user part name cooresponding to the drilling pattern and it's converted into a barcode. Only the parts that get drilled/doweled get barcod...

Re: Suggestion

I agree with the button for wireframe, and one button to show/hide all doors/drawers. Also the ability to assign hole patterns to pulls/knobs. I also spend a lot of time putting those holes in with the part editor and constraining them. The ability to have the backs of drawer fronts drilled for meta...

Re: KD fasteners not showing up for drawer boxes

That worked thanks! The pattern showed up in the field, but for some reason wasn't taking.
