Re: Parts editor touble

Lee,

What kind of joinery are you using? Butt? Dado? Blind dado?

Upload the cabinet file here so we can take a look at it.

Re: rounded front edge on shelf

the middle shelf is the way i need help with. i know how to use the tools to profile edges but for some odd reason i cant cut away the shelf to form the arch like you show for the middle shelf. do you use the three point arch? Yes, but not the one in the main Part Editor screen. Bring your shelf in...

Re: display panel placement

Matt, Yeah, that's what I meant. Shift/Right Click. Sorry about that. I'm not certain why those boxes aren't available for input in overhead view. It should work while in elevation view. However, there is a workaround if you absolutely need to work in absolutes. All you need is a wall buil...

Re: display panel placement

Matt,

Hold down the control key, and left click/drag the panel into place while in overhead view. To zoom in, hold down the control key, and click/drag to draw a bounding box around the area you want to zoom in on.

Re: Align function in cab editor.

Brian,

After you select the two things that you are trying to align, click on the node you want stationery first (it will turn blue) then click on the node of the piece you want moved second (it will be red).

Re: Miter joints

Lee, Go to Construction Settings. Click on the Face Frames tab. Set your Top Rail insets to -2 (both left and right) Set your Bottom Rail insets to -2 (both left and right) (Note: This is assuming standard width stiles and rails of 2" - if you are using a different width, adjust your insets acc...

Re: rounded front edge on shelf

I cant figure out how to make the front of a shelf rounded. It has to be something easy. thanks. Which way are you 'rounding' them? Rounded Shelves.jpg The top and bottom shelf have a tool applied to the front edge, the middle shelf has the front part 'cut away' to leave the rounding. All done in P...

Re: display panel placement

Mark, I guess the first question I should have asked is: what technique do people use to create an appliance that has panels? Do you place an appliance and then locate display panels on the face of the appliance? Do you just locate display panels out in space? Or something else? This is the method I...

Re: Miter joints

Lee, I'm attaching a cabinet with everything mitered, along with the tool I use in Part Editor. For now, I hope you're good at reverse engineering. I don't have time to fully explain right now, but here's a few tips: All of your cabinet joints should be set to 'Butt' You'll need to make sure ...

Re: Miter joints

Lee,

You want to miter your face frames to the cabinet sides? If 'yes', then you'll need the Part Editor. I can certainly post a method for you if you wish.

Re: Easy part editor contour drafting

I use the rectangle tool in the Part Editor and enter absolutes for this sort of thing. Your origin point would be 0,x (x = the height of your partition). This will anchor the rectangle at the upper left-hand corner of the piece. Your second point would be 19.43,(x-178.43 ) Use the parentheses, eCab...

Re: Zoom and pan in part editor

To zoom, hold down the ctrl key and draw a bounding box with the left mouse button. Hit the 'home' key do zoom back out.

Once you're zoomed in, you can't pan unless you're in 'Review' mode(the eye icon).

Damon,

I've had this happen before, but inconsistently. I usually open the resulting posts in a new tab or window to avoid it.

Re: Creating a Circular Display Cube

Thanks, Mike. I was able to do it without creating 2 circles. Just drew one in Contour mode on top of my rectangular part, returned to part editor and clicked Create Part Using Closed Contour. I guess Create is the opposite of Cut as far as determining which element of the part is kept? Cheers, Pat...
