Re: SB Link Tenon Dado Cut Direction

I have just had opportunity to repeat this on my machine with a 3/8 bit and found that it is not machine or bit specific. After cutting 6 sheets of parts, most of which had tenon dados, the dados are cut in the climb direction and this yields undersize tenon dados with very poor edge quality. Dados ...

Re: Proper procedure for material resize prior to creating TWD

Jeremy... Thanks for the explanation. I have been doing this on a regular basis, but didnt quite know how to instruct Steve. When I looked it up in the guide I was left slightly more confused. I do very little with pulls or any other display type items as eCabs feels "clunky" at best when ...

Re: Proper procedure for material resize prior to creating TWD

Jeremy...
Thanks for the reply... I just reread ths in the "almost complete guide" and it is still somewhat vague. Can I assume that the material thickness adjustment is made just prior to saving the TWD?

Re: Slab Doors and drawers

Roger...
When in the Cabinet/Assembly Editor... select the door and draw fronts, right click, select "Group parts". That should do the trick

Proper procedure for material resize prior to creating TWD

Can anyone enlighten myself and a new owner on the proper procedure of changing material with a "generic" thickness of .75" to actual of .71 on batch jobs? Is there any difference when job is custom layout? I cut a few small jobs with not problems, then new owner did another, with thi...

SB Link Tenon Dado Cut Direction

I have just returned from Nevis, West Indies doing a machine setup and training. During trial cuts using eCabs and the SB Link, I noticed that the tenon dados cut in climb mill direction and they are sized smaller than design, the full dados cut in conventional and the profile cuts climb, then conve...

Re: Shopbot Link - Ramping issue

Don & Ernie... I can't give you the definative answer here, but I sent in a file a while back with the same "extra pass" and speed questions. The software may have changed since then, but here is what I was told, and it makes sense to me. The extra pass is a result of a cleanup for the...

Re: free door program

Guys... I hope you dont mind me sticking my head in here, but I may have some info for you on this subject. The program Free Doors was written by Mike Richards and is open source. The GUI was written and is maintained by Bruce Clark. Free but not open source. There may be ways that those so inclined...

Re: shopbot

Marco... In order to cut eCabinets files you will need, as Kerry says above, to purchase the SB Link. This will give you a Dongle Hasp Key that will enable the Link to run. You will also need a ShopBot that is 4G or later running the latest (3.6.3) version of the ShopBot 3 software. Your eCabs file(...

Re: Dado settings for plywood

Joe... I like to use .010 side clearance with plywood and .005 with solid wood panels we mill ourselves. I use .015 to .020 depth clearance, mostly to allow for thickness differences in plywood. This makes nice fitting dry, and tight glued joints with blind dadoes or mortise and tenon, if you prefer...

Re: Custom Layout Issue

Dan & Kerry.. Thanks very much for the info. I did a little research on Dans point about the openGl support, primary vs. secondary. Changed my settings to reflect that and was working well. Then after Kerry's post, I shaded the settings towards performance, with no noticeable difference. Then tr...

Joe... I own a PRSalpha with the second z and 2 drills, and yes, I can surely recommend this to you, should you be able to swing it. Having owned a CNC machine for a year and a half, I can tell you that it took us about 6 months to recover the costs of the machine by 1) increase is production 2)adde...

Re: Custom Layout Issue

Dan... One of the reasons that I chose these cards was the large number of openGL extensions that are supported. (http://ati.amd.com/developer/sdk/radeonSDK/html/info/Prog3D.html ) I am aware of the no vista support and will change this machine back to XPPro in a heartbeat, and change out the video ...
