Re: today's q-core CN update
You hit that right on the head! The DXF layer function does lots of stuff for us very well, but as my ability progresses I find that I am want for something a little more full featured for doing signs and modeling. I have test driven the Aspire program from vectric, but not any of the delcam or rhin...

Re: today's q-core CN update
That is exactly what I was looking for, Brad. Thanks for bringing it into the light. Looks Like I'm going to have to test-cut some examples to fully feel out the application of the commands to see it working as intended. I actually turned down some work recently that this would have been useful for,...

pocket islands
Is there a way to set up islands in pockets using the DXF layers? I'm doing a piece of text and the interiors of the letters like "O" and "R" are being pocketed out. I have closed vectors and I'm pretty sure they are clean. Does the Island need a dummy depth or something? Thanks ...

today's q-core CN update
Can someone elaborate on this?
From the release notes:
Cut centerline lines via DXF with changes in Z. (ADDED)
Does the help file get updated with these additional features, so that I can learn how to use them?

Re: Nesting issues
Have you Double checked your materials properties? Or changed them since you've created that part in the drawerbox editor? If those check out, I'm out of guesses

Re: Nesting issues
I can't speak to the algorithm that lays out parts in the sheet to "maximize" off-fall, but that is frustration I share with you. It would be nice to be able to manually move parts around a bit so the nest is truly optimized. Almost daily, I talk to my machine wondering "Why did you d...

Re: Change Cabinet numbers?
I know you could change the number of a cabinet in the batch dialog by right clicking the cabinet number. I've never done it in the custom layout editor, but I'm sure there must be a way.

Re: Drawer locks
It doesn't seem to work that way, there needs to be some numerical value in the bottom inset variable box, and that value seems to drive the relative "Y" positioning. It is rather cumbersome to do the back-figuring to find the correct value for the top inset, based on the other values (dra...

Re: Dust shroud/skirt alternatives
I am also interested in this issue. It would seem to me that a 6" riser/dust shoe would restrict the flow much less. The 4" that's on the machine stock seems to restrict the volume of air that is pulling. It's moving pretty fast, but Ideally you want to move more volume, am I right? Maybe ...

Drawer locks
Is there a convenient way to set the drawerbox behind a drawerfront a set distance from the top edge of the front, rather than the bottom? When I place a drawer in a cabinet, with the parameters for bottom and top inset, it seems to be always referenced off the bottom of the drawerbox. That is if I ...

Re: DXF will not load
Control Nesting has to iterate through all the entities to piece together an operation. I found some bad geometry at spots on your dxf. I modified the drawing by putting in a few long lines and correcting the non-connected spots with bad geometry. I also segregated each chain for it's own layer. It...

Re: DXF will not load
I've been on the fence for while about this software, but have never had a competent person demo it. It looks like great software. I guess its time to put on the headset and roll through the tutorials. Will Williamson wrote:Go buy your self a copy of V Carve pro it will pay for itself in a couple of days.

Re: DXF will not load
That's correct. It was a stylized text that I scaled and fit in AI, then saved as DWG for ACAD. I weeded points in the polyline down to about 1/16th of an inch to preserve the shape and form, then converted from polyline to line segments because CN doesn't like polylines. Is there a better way? I do...
