Re: Your Oppion
I agree with Peter's statement. The main thing is to give a realistic delivery time and if you fun a little short on time, you may have to burn some midnight oil. I know I have pulled a few allnighters just to hit deadlines before.

This will make you smile (Warning- a little off color)
Don't ask a retired guy a dumb question... Yesterday I was at my local Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Iams Dog Food for my loyal pet, Abby, the Wonder Dog, and was in the checkout line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So since I'm retired and have l...

Re: Your Oppion
Gary, You might want to take a look at your states code. Don't just ask the local building inspector or Bubba that has been doing this all his life. I spent two or three minutes looking up your states code and this is what I found: RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CONTRACTOR LICENSING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...

Re: Your Oppion
Gary, In order to be successful in any business, you need to learn to delegate responsibilities to other people. I have a hard time with that one myself so I know where you are coming from. That being said, there is no way you can do it all, and do it in a timely manner. If you assign a job to someo...

Gary,
Most peoples reputation is in the CRAFTSMANSHIP. That being said, I think I would rather be in the shop making sure the final product is up to standard and hire a minimum wage crew to demo.

Re: Depth Clearance
What do you have your depth clearance set for. I have run into this before and just increased the clearance. The first time it happened, I had to belt sand every tenon so that they did not bottom out in the dado. Not a lot of fun having to do this a several hundred parts.

Re: Help Needed with cabinet
Here's a good one. I was trying to manually place your rafix connectors to see if it made any difference and it didn't. I tried another cabinet using just a standard base cabinet in the batch layout. When I take the cabinet into the cabinet editor and add a shelf and then make a part editor cut and ...

Re: Expending Business - Online
It's cabinets like these that create a lot of misconception. Everyone wants to call themselves custom cabinetmakers and I know you have not mentioned custom but I would guess you are going to try and market these as custom cabinets. There is nothing custom about these cabinets. Those cabinets would ...

Where's Justin?
Is Justin still around? I have not seen him post lately and his avatar is now blank. Not being nosy, just curious. He is always a lot of help.

Re: water-resistant wood finish
For me, maintenance would be the main factor. I like linseed oil or Mineral oil on a rubbed out piece of furniture but on a counter top, I would think the 2K poly would be less maintenance, but either would work.

Re: water-resistant wood finish
I would use a 2K Poly In a dull sheen. Apply 3 coats 3-5 mills thick and sand with 320 inbetween coats. One thing about this stuff. You must be set up to use it and ready. You only have a pot life of 8 hrs and then it is rock hard.

Re: how can you protect your drawing
I normally like to take my portfolio book with me and I can show customers different styles of work we have done in the past. Usually the question will come up "What does something like this run"?. Usually from that point I can get a response of what style they are looking for and what typ...

Something to think about
Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA ) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG ). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA ), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE ) and tennis shoes (MADE IN K...
