Re: Problem trying to load job

To add to this.... Scott Vaal just emailed me with info on the user error. My pocket tool was set up as a .374 dia. No doubt this will not cut the .25 pocket. For some reason I didnt realize that pocket tools were not sorted, like rout/dado tools. So in my case, it was a user error, applying a pocke...

Re: Problem trying to load job

Josh... Actually 2 jobs. 1 from me and one from John. They may or may not be related, but returned similar errors. Since we are both SB Link users, jobs were not posted. Kerry was able to nest mine, and I replaced my PE dados with a full dado "nocut" fixed shelf and was able to cut it. Tim...

Re: Problem trying to load job

Kerry... This job was designed with .746 material And changed it up to .775. And also tried no change. Also change mtl then (no chage and OK) (all going to TWD) Aslo tried taking the tooling allowance up to .15 incrementally to no avail. All the tenon dados nested and cut fine. The problem, as you s...

Re: Problem trying to load job

John... Usually this is a result of a pocket, dado (tenon, pocket or full) or hole that is narrower than your smallest tool. Often a dado % that results in a dado width less than your tool due to a decrease in material thickness going to the TWD. You can get the info for this part and pocket geometr...

Re: Ability to Lock Openings

Kerry, Josh... I agree wholeheartedly. We need to be able to lock the "float" number once applied. Seems like I am always cutting midrails and styles with funky dado positions. Once locked, dont suppose the frame position could drive the shelf/partion location? This would actually allow re...

Yes.... Happy Birthday Kerry.

I am a little dissapointed in the loss of one of my sayings. It appears that he is not older, just wiser than I.

Re: Can't Change Back Dado Depth Clearance

Nat... Kerry's explanation is exactly the way I use the depth clearance the most. When using 50% +/- tenons I set the depth clearance to .020 to allow for sheet thickness variations. This keeps the "shoulder" tight against its mating part even if the sheet gets thinner. I only use a depth ...

Re: XP Series from Vortex

Forrest... I only wish I could cut at those speeds. I am going to try and lower my rpm from 13.5K to gain some chipload. My next job will NOT have any staples in the edges to rip up the bit. Hopefully I will get a better test. I surely dont have a way to compare either the tooling angles or carbide ...

Re: Can't Change Back Dado Depth Clearance

Nat... The depth clearance makes the dado deeper. Doesnt reduce the size of the part. So if you want a 1mm wiggle room for a back against the sides, set the depth clearance for the back at .5mm. This will give you 1mm total. The fit clearance will make the dado wider by the set amount. Both are very...

Re: XP Series from Vortex

John... I also have tried them. My experience is very similar to that of Forrest. Previous "econo" bits would start to chip after 10-12 sheets of Melamine. Only slightly better results with a DLC coated bit. My first XP cut a staple that nicked both flutes (in the 1st 2' of profile)and the...

From the PE, select the contour manager. Once there, right click > select "find edges". You can then deselect any non needed, or save as an x_t.

Re: Adding a sheet in ShopBot Link

Don... Added sheets first point is in the upper right corner (max X,max Y) and proceeds CCW when entering individual points. Rectangles are added similarly. I have not noticed any differences in how this works, actually right from the beginning. Did the nest show the parts cut in that location? Did ...
