Re: Dxf in part editor

Whoops! Sorry to take so long to get back and say THANK YOU! The tips all helped and I've had no trouble taking a dxf file into countour editor. Was a huge help and will be in the future. I must have made at least 5 different shapes in Turbo and brought the files into part editor to make the cuts. V...

Re: Dxf in part editor

Thanks Kerry, I'll try the tips that you suggested. Especially the pick box size and the filet tool. The zooming and snaps off were being used but for some reason the lines wern't getting selected when I rolled over them and they turned red. I would have to click a number of times even though I was ...

Re: Dxf in part editor

Whoops!
Thanks Dan. I forgot to mention it in the earlier post. I couldn't post the DXF since I'm operating the program from one machine and posting from another. I appreciate your offer to check out the DXF file, though. Much appreciated.

Regards,
Tim

Re: Dxf in part editor

Just loaded the dxf circle into the contour editor and went back to the part editor. The circle was created as a part fine. Went back and loaded the dxf ogee bracket. dropped it onto the panel, in the contour editor, and used the 'extend line' tool at every line intersection so that there was an ove...

Re: Dxf in part editor

Hey Guys, Thanks for the feedback. It has helped. I was able to load the dxf into the contour editor successfully. Bammo! Got the dxf shape, drawn in turbo, loaded right onto the panel. Went back into the part editor and tried to create the part using the loaded closed contour. AWWwwww poop! Same me...

Re: Dxf in part editor

Fred, I finished creating a shape in turbo and saved it in athe clients documents folder. Went thru the steps you outlined in e-cabs and brought a panel into the contour editor. Used the File pull down menu and selected "open". Went to the Client file folder and opened it up. The only file...

Dxf in part editor

Evening all, I was wondering if there is anyway to create a closed contour shape in another program (say Turbo Cad) and import that drawing into part editor for creating geometric shapes. Had one of those afternoons where your back to "I coulda cut this thing out faster!...." I'm trying to...

Re: Shape manager retard

Dan, I sit in the juices of my unworthiness to come and ask you e-cab questions! O.K. I just figured it out. The first "one sided" tool bit that I attempted after your instructions were cutting just the 1/64", to the left of 0,0, off my part ( in my defense, I stated that I was a shap...

Re: Shape manager retard

Dan, I went ahead and re drew the right hand side of the "v" bit and started the tip at -1/64,0. I then drew the right side 13/16+1/64,1/8. Depth was set at -1/8". The result was a 1/64 wide, 1/8" deep rabbit at the top of the leg going all the way around. This occurred if the ch...

Re: Shape manager retard

The tool that I created was a "v" bit that has the pont of the "V" on the 0,0 point in shape manager. It was then drawn from 0,0 to -13/16,1/8 for the left side of the bit. Then it went from 0,0 to 13/16,1/8 for the right side of the bit. finally a line was drawn from -13/16,1/8 ...

Re: Shape manager retard

Hey Dan, Tried creating the leg using the board thickness as the leg length as you posted earlier. Same error gets thrown up. alogorithmic failure etc... Can't get my head around the problem. I created a "V" bit that has a 1/8" carbide height and has a 1 5/8" diameter. No diamete...

Re: Shape manager retard

Dan, Can you get the same results with a board stock that's just 1/8" thick by the 1 5/8 x 1 5/8 square dimensions? Reason being that if I creat a material that has the desired length of the leg as a thickness of material, then the grain runs the wrong way. If the pyramis shapes, themselves, co...

Re: Shape manager retard

Holy Moly, Thanks Dan, I'll try to reproduce the steps you outlined and post the result. Noticed how fast you were able to do that and it tells me I have to get into the modeling parts of the program more. I appreciate your help on this. I read older post in the forum regarding tool profiles. It alm...

Re: Shape manager retard

Hi Dan,
Almost, cept the chamfer would be wide enough to come to a point in the center of the table led, instead of the Flat that is still on yours (table leg top).
