Re: Automatic Updating

Neville speaks FAR too highly of me. I mean it. Anyway, we've got the new Quad Core controller, and it will randomly lock up when doing a cold start in the morning. Scares the crap out of me every time it does it, but always seems to start on the second go. (touches closes piece of timber.....) I do...

Re: Automatic Updating

I too get freezes occasionally. I don't think updates will fix it. Not keen to try anyway :)

Re: How Thick is to Thick?

16mm MDF spoil board and 3mm sacrificial sheets - we buy packs of these at a time and just flip them over once and then get rid of them. We build the price of the scarificial sheets into the jobs we do. Fly cutting thicker boards was just not time efficient.

Re: Tool Drop Out

Hi there, probably not much help to you but have you typed in 'draw bar" or similar issue items into the search box? It may help you find a solution.

Re: new feature request

Onion skinning is a feature that a lot of software and machine companies promote for a very good reason. It is not something that should be addressed by using different tools as it has been found that the only true way to get the required edge without extra hand machining/double handling is to doubl...

Re: General bugs

Hi Alex, the i7 is just a bigger CPU (motor for want of a better word)than the i5 and plays a smaller part in running ecabs. The Nvidia 600 Quadro 1GB graphics card is what pushes my display for ecabs. My computer is a tower unit custom built by myself specificly to do CAD stuff. If the link i got w...

Re: General bugs

Yeah I use Ecabs pretty much all day, every day. Most days :) And I know what you mean, I've worked for a couple of cabinet software companies and Ecabs can surprisingly hold its head up high in regard to what it can do for free compared to other programs worth in the $50K area. It does how ever fal...

Re: General bugs

It could well be the integrated graphics that is causing some of your problems, but for what it's worth now seeing your cabinets, yeah I've had ecabs throw up some random issues when adding draw boxes that manage to shift up above the unit and does some really weird stuff, that when I try to replica...

Re: General bugs

Hi, I've got various issues with the software that others have reported previously, but none of the ones that you are experiencing. Yes metric and constantly nest over 40 sheeets. What are your computer specs. The specs in my sig run the programme exceptionally well and at this point in time is not ...

Re: DXF importing

DraftSight as recommended by Garry and Kerry Fullington converted a DXF for me that was full of arcs and lines, that used to freeze ecabs.

Re: CN Optimization

Roughly 17K for the upgrade. Take about 5K off of that being in the US. RAM is definitely cheaper :) Also you could check your Motherboard specs and see if you can upgrade the processor. Those two items will be considerably cheaper and should see you get performance increases.

Re: New member and would appreciate help with laptop purchas

Stay with win7 for the moment. In fact make it a long moment, until the Thermwood techs get their head around win 8. Also with Microsofts tendency for every second OS being crap I'd probably wait until the successor to Windows 8.
