Corner Cabinet Door Handles

I'm having problems with corner cabinets door handles. I put in the slab double right door on, select handle and place. Handle is "floating" inside of cabinet. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Fred

Re: MDF Doors?

The grade of MDF makes a big difference. In our area plumb creek or the canadian stuff is pretty good. Also we prime with Sherwin Williams Millwork Primer. Do 2 coats. This stuff is just like drywall paste. NOTE: we don't sand anything until after primer coats. Then we paint with ML Campbell Polysta...

Re: Dxf in part editor

Tim, I'm using TurboCAD 11.2 and have not had too much problem doing this. -If you draw your shape in TC put the bottom left of your shape at 0,0 in TC. -Export as DXF. -Go to eCabs. -Start a new new cabinet and put in a display panel that is larger than the shape you created in TC -Highlight new di...

Re: eCabinet Systems is NEW again

Ken, Great news. I thank all you guys at Thermwood for the hard work. Interestingly, we started with a Shopbot and added a Model 45. Both machines humm right along beside each other and perform their respective tasks extremely well. It'll be nice to send a part from time to time to the bot. I also h...

Keyholes eCabs and CNC

Wondering if anyone has any ideas how to use a keyhole bit to cut keyholes in the backside of a cabinet back (small cabinet) and send to the machine. This post should also be in 3 Axis area? Could you somehow make a profile bit in part editor, but then the machine ramps in to the cut and I didn't re...

Re: Pocket operation Problem.

Nemanja,
I've been getting this one too. So far we just cut away and it doesn't seem like anything is missing. I seem to only notice on eCabs files, not dxf files. Are you using dxf or eCabs or combination?

Re: Efficient way to assemble cabinets (hiPurformer glue)

Patrick, I use the hipurformer glue with the blind dado construction. Jody is correct, use it more like a tack welder and yellow glue for the bulk of it. I've ruined a couple of projects trying to use the 30 second set time, it just sets way to fast. That being said, if the panel doesn't show, I hav...

Re: Hafele Metal Box System

Damon, It is the same hole pattern on the cabinet as the epoxy slides and the drawer left and right gap are .5". Now the tougher question that I don't know the answer too... The guy who draws these for us doesn't use ecabs, so I'm not sure the "slide distance from bottom setting". Acc...

Re: Hafele Metal Box System

Damon,
We use these. I believe they are the same as the epoxy slides... Give me a minute I'll run outback and take some measurements and re-post.

Re: Kens latest book

Folks at Thermwood. Saw the video on CabinetMaker with your furniture production. Any chance you guys could video more of the process? How are you finishing and banding those curved pcs.
Thanks,
Fred

Re: Dados and Tenons tight!

Terry, All these are great suggestions. I think it could be any or all of the above. For this exact reason we don't use re-sharpened bits on the machine anymore. I've had the pleasure of sending out a bunch of KD furniture that the guys cut with resharpened bits and did not reset on machine. The pho...

Re: Hardware Patterns

Rob, I use the Hafele patterns, but I'm assuming that Blum is the same. 3,4,5, etc refers to the tab. Distance from the edge of the board. One of the things that took me a while and I'm still not fully clear on, but you kindof have to do the math for your hardware then match in ecabs the hardware pa...

Re: Making the investment

Mark, I'll jump in here. We are on the production sharing list for Phoenix, AZ. A pretty sizable market... I have done little production sharing, but I have also done NOTHING to pursue it. Over the years, I've met a couple of other production sharing shops. Just what Kerry said, the ones who do well...

Re: Kens latest book

Neville, We have come up with something that sort-of works for monitoring jobs through the machine. I modified the clock macro on the machine to write out the cut file name and date/time to a running log file. Our THM is on network so at any time the foreman can just open the log file that resides o...

Re: Kens latest book

Neville, I did order and receive Ken's book. An interesting read. I do believe that this is the future of the manufacturing sector in the US. I'm only about 1/2 way through the book, but like you, I would like to have more detail on THM's setup and flow of order from start to finish. I know in our s...
