Re: CN Feature request

Hey Clint, to boil it down to the simplest terms, we would like to be able to use a 1/4" tool to cut the parts free from the sheet, after the skin pass that is made with a 3/8" bit. This is not possible right now, as it only allows one roughing tool and one outline tool...unless I'm missin...

Re: CN Feature request

Tommy, we're using the roughing. But to cut through the final skin, it will go back to the normal outline tool. I would like to be able to specify a different tool to cut the parts free from the sheet. That would allow more freedom for unique feed speeds, as well as a different tool diameter. And ye...

CN Feature request

Could we pretty please get the option to specify a different tool to cut the final skin outline pass (the pass that cuts parts free of the sheet)?
It would very helpful to be able to specify a unique tool, along with spindle and feed speeds, etc.
Thanks!

Re: CS41 Control software version

Clint, thanks for the info. Was just curious if we could do a software upgrade for maybe a few hundred dollars to get a couple of the additional features (like you said). But if it means new hardware, I'm sure that would run into the thousands. The machine works fine as it is, it just keeps on keepi...

CS41 Control software version

The control software version we have on our CS41 is 7.2.1.8. What was the newest version of the control software for this machine, and if it's newer than what we have, how could I go about getting it? All I see on the Thermwood website are QCore updates. Thanks!

Re: Constraint manager bug?

Yep Clint, we figured that out. Fortunately it isn't a huge deal as you say, just an annoyance.

Re: Lock Dado with Centreline idea

We use the same methods, and as you say, a different hole pattern is required for each material thickness. Yes, it would be nice if it could auto-adjust to stay centered on the material. Maybe a variable in the pattern manager so you could set Y = mat'l thickness / 2?

Constraint manager bug?

Load a Std. Base Frameless with Toekick into the cabinet editor. Click one of the end panels to highlight it, and take it to the Part Editor. Select the Rectangle tool, and use it to cut a notch on the opposite edge of the existing toekick notch (such as you would do to make a cabinet with a toekick...

Re: THM.exe Crashes when Nesting

Curious to know how this pans out. A couple of years ago I tried to use the restore disc on our CS41, and while it did reinstall, Microsoft will no longer activate copies of Win XP, and I imagine Win 2000 is the same. Without being able to do that, the machine becomes an expensive paperweight. Fortu...

Fix vague error messages

When writing a TWD file, if there are any errors, it would be SUPER AWESOME if the error message would also tell you what cabinet and material has caused the error. It's a whole lot of no-fun going thru dozens of cabinets trying to figure out where to start when confronted with an error message like...

Re: Profile modeler inconsistent toolpath

Not a bad idea Mark. I don't think any one person has ultimate knowledge of the elusive and cryptic Profile Modeler. If nothing else, we could just start a general profile modeler thread where everyone plays with it and posts their results/observations. We would be able to flesh out some bugs that n...

Re: Profile modeler inconsistent toolpath

Clint, we've got it working now, using an asymmetrical tool such as you have drawn. It is possible to change the material thinner, and it will still work. But making the material thicker will create problems. Using a symmetrical tool gets exactly what Kerry has shown - which is what you'd expect giv...

Re: Profile modeler inconsistent toolpath

We remade the tool and changed the height of it to exactly the material thickness, and plunged it exactly the material thickness amount, and it shows correctly now. But that means we can never change material thicknesses, or would have to make a new profile tool for every material thickness.

Re: Profile modeler inconsistent toolpath

We're making progress. It is the eCabs-generated toekick notch that is part of the problem. We got rid of that, and replaced it with a part editor cut, and the toolpath was correct. We then added back the cut on the front edge of the part, and now suddenly the part-editor-cut toekick notch is not do...

Re: Profile modeler inconsistent toolpath

Hey Clint, just emailed you the export. To answer your questions: 1 - Yes, the same profile tool for both edges 2 - Yes, we checked for a fat-finger mistake and the depths are indeed the same 3 - Yes, both profiles are swept in the same direction. The "bit" is 1" tall, and we're plung...
