Re: CN wish list

I share Dave B's desire for an "off the line first pass" feature. The ridge left on conventional cut double pass parts is more than just a minor annoyance, for many jobs it becomes a production bottle-neck to remove the ridge prior to edgebanding or assembly. I could rant on for a while he...

Re: ridge

Dave, As Forrest said, this is deflection. The deflection is towards the side of the cut creating the heaviest load on the tool. When the tool is burried in a cut on both sides, the deflection will be towards the part for conventional cut, and away from the part for climb cut. If the tool is loaded ...

Re: Door Tooling

OK, I'm sure the last thing some of you want to hear is another work-around but I'll throw it out there anyhow. Here's a way to get "Tool set" doors, as Forrest calls them, out of ecabs and a Thermwood router. First let me repeat an earlier point: you can use the "exterior" profi...

Re: CN - Added sheet - label orientation problem

Hi again Larry, While you're in the label code, can you change the part name printed on the label for shelves, partitions, display panel, door, drawer face and stretchers to include the shelf/partition/stetcher... number as displayed on the load screen please? When we need to recut a part it is ofte...

Re: CN - Added sheet - label orientation problem

Hi Larry,
Thanks for taking the time to check it out.
It appears our misguided work-around for the label edgebanding problem (rotate the labels 180 degrees) creates the flip-op non-problem.
My apologies for bad info.

Dave

Re: CN - Added sheet - label orientation problem

Justin, Try nesting this cabinet on added sheet(s) Apply labels using normal operator orientation. Run flip ops and edgebanding per labels. Ship to customer. Let him attempt to assemble. Deal with angry phone call. Rush order another $100 sheet of Cherry. Recut parts, run flip ops, edgeband, package...

CN - Added sheet - label orientation problem

Parts nested on added sheets are rotated 180 degrees when compared to parts cut from full sheets. When labels are applied to the parts using the standard operator orientation, the labels are upside down. This creates problems and dumpster food when the parts have flip operations or the label has edg...

Scrap Part Recovery and Profile modeling

Any chance we could get Scrap part recovery to recognize profile modeling?

Right now, profile modeling is ignored if you select scrap part recovery.

Draw your circle in the "Contour" section of the part editor
Exit contour mode.
Select "Create part using closed contour" from the right click menu.
click on the circle.
Click on "Next" button at bottom of screen.

Re: DRAWER BOX ERROR

Same problem here.

According to the ecabs nest (and a sheet of drawer parts on its way to the dumpster)

It appears that when you change the tenons to greater than 50% thickness, the dados change in width, but most of the tenons remain at 50%.

50% thickness seems like it would work.

Profile Modeler part identification and other issues.

So I have some MDF doors to model and the design requires two different tool groups. Since the doors have boring on them, I decided to change the doors to slab doors, and let CN nest and bore them. Now with the "blanks" cut and bored, I can run them through profile modeler and skip the per...

Re: Door DEsign

Georgi, That's a very creative solution. Just one idea... You could try putting the mahogany pieces in the actual cabinet as stretchers with a negative front inset so they protrude through the door's panel, almost to the door's face. Then use a real door on the cabinet without the strips. Lock the s...

Re: Help with machining a display panel

As you have discovered, CN does not recognize islands. I would do this using a DXF file, creating at least two pockets (one "U" shaped pocket for three sides, and the second pocket for the 4th side) making sure the pockets don't share any verticies with each other, or the part outline. If ...

Re: Thermwood and circle top.

Perhaps I should have been more specific.

Two arcs, each 180 degrees with the same radius and same center point arranged such that they create a closed circle.

Like the one attached.

Re: Thermwood and circle top.

Try breaking the circle into at least two arcs. Circles are assumed to be for drilling only, therefore CN doesn't see anything on the outline layer.
