Re: Label symbols

I like the idea of the symbols as well. Actually my favorite is the colored blocks, but the Dymo printer on the machine is B&W, and I don't wanna replace it with a color one. First thought that comes into my head is AA through ZZ. That's a lot of "symbols" (676 by my count,) and easier...

Re: Applying door with a fixed shelf

You could set the reveal, or overlay (depending on whether it's frameless or faceframe) to the proper negative number (in case of reveal) or positive number (in case of overlay) to cause the door to be the right size.

Or add the door to the cabinet as a display door.

Re: Drawer Assembly Techniques

Certainly no offense taken Gary. I've got nothing against the dovetail joint at all. It's just my personal opinion that they aren't worth the time required, in the modern era of the pocket screw and blind dado. All methods produce a joint that will not fail. It's hard enough to get folks to pony up ...

Re: Drawer Assembly Techniques

Will, if you're also using 1/2" ply for the bottoms and blind-dadoing them in, then it would cause flip ops. I hadn't thought of that earlier. We use 1/4" bottoms. Gary, we haven't come across anyone who was willing to pay the extra for the dovetail drawers. They'd rather spend the money o...

Re: Drawer Assembly Techniques

Will,

As long as the drawers are made from two-sided material (remember it needs to be specified as two-sided within the ecabs material database too) there are no flip operations for blind-dadoed drawer boxes. If that isn't the problem, I'm curious to know how you are getting flip ops on them?

Re: Drawer Assembly Techniques

We used to use pocket screws in 3/4" ply. Pockets on the drawer box front and back, and when the drawer is assembled there are no visible fasteners and it's a very strong, no-nonsense easy to build drawer.

With the CNC now we just blind dado 'em. 8)

Re: Kinda Quiet Today

Funny you should mention fishing, Dean. I've been playing the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess on the Wii, and part of the game involves fishing. Great game! But it's been busy here today, we measured for a job at the hospital, pretty big job. I'm thrilled to be getting calls in this "down&quo...

Re: One Part, More than one Edgebanding, Slab Doors too

You read my mind David. We're just dealing with a job like that (several actually) that would greatly benefit from being able to display more than one type of edgebanding. I like the idea of a dashed line to differentiate. Count me in on this one.

Re: Rendering causes zoom in

Don, you can re-frame the view while in presentation mode. After the image has rendered, hold the Shift key and you can rotate the room as normal (though it will be slower and choppier) to reframe it exactly how you need it. When you release the shift key, the rendering reverts to the previous (pres...

Thermwood home page

The fourth word on the Thermwood home-page is "manufacturers" instead of "manufactures".

Just thought I'd pass that along. What can I say, it's breaktime.

Re: Old off-fall with new CN update

Hi Daniel,

We'll check further and see if we can figure it out. I'm sure the settings haven't been changed.

I'll let you know what we find out.

Old off-fall with new CN update

Another thing we discovered today is that with the new CN, when using off-fall created with a previous version, it is shifting the parts off of the piece towards machine home by about an inch in both X and Y. I don't know if this is an issue with off-fall created with the new version of CN.

Multiple pass option not for off-fall?

We had a big ouch today. Cutting 1 1/2" thick material was a great opportunity to use the new multiple pass feature, and it worked great. What didn't work so good was the fact that it tried to clean up the off-fall in one pass, which plunged beyond the flutes on the bit, ruining a (of course) b...

Re: New labels option!

Hear hear... not only does the edgebanding type show on the label, but now there is a color/symbol code to make sorting parts faster. What a great idea!

Kudos Thermwood guys
