Hi Dan, Thanks for the prompt reply. Maybe I should rephrase the question. What would be cheaper model card that still benefits from the patch Dean has? In real life performance with ecabinets, what model would be fine on infrequent Rendering that a foreman would use in customising for one off machi...

nVidia Quadro-series graphics chip

Hi Dean, I did a search on the forum and couldn't find the answer to my question. I might seem like a tight wad here but what are the performance differences between the low end chip and the top end chip? The price seems to go from $400 up to $2000. I have at least 3 computers to upgrade to use Ecab...

Albany to Sydney is a fair way. I was hoping Doug would come down here and do the training but but he doesn't want to be away from home cooked meals. Doug's found some rooms at the local YMCA for me to stay at so he's turning on for me. I'll fly from Perth to Sydney as driving 4 days isn't fantastic...

Hi Thom, One is in Perth Western Australia which Terry is doing in the next few weeks. Just waiting for dates to be finalised and there is one in Sydney either just before Christmas or late January. I have bought a CS 45 so trying to be up with it before it arrives. Have you done any formal training...

Thanks Todd & Jason, Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer. Wild Doug had given me a different impression of time scale for 5.2 I'll continue with my self paced training of Ecabinets and hopefully the penny will drop soon. I have booked myself into some training classes so that will make the...

Ecabinets 5.2

I was wondering if 5.2 had finished its beta testing yet? Is there a approx release date? Is there a list of features to be included? I'm in the early stages of learning Ecabinets and I believe there have been a few changes that have been designed to tidy up the front end. I have other staff that ne...

Well that will be interesting if they add that link to the member store in version 6. What if the store is closed? There is no store outside the USA. I spoke to the Australian Sales and there is not enough Ecabinet users to warrant the expense at this time. Maybe they can delay that feature until al...

Hi Denny, To me Vista is not worth the agro. Don't smash that computer as its not really its fault. Backup your data and any other info onto a usb memory stick. Buy that new hard disk and get someone to install XP for you if your not sure. Your looking at 3 to 4 hrs work to get ecabinets operational...

I don't think loading XP is going to be that difficult seeing most of the suppliers of Computer cards etc aren't even supplying drivers for Vista. If you want to play it safe whip out the hard disk and put in another one which are dirt cheap. Install XP and ecabinets. If it works well for a few week...

Hi Mark & Forrest, I wasn't aware that there are different grades of MDF. I just thought one supplier had a better product than another for sanding purposes. Sanders are always a problem and if you get a good one they only seem to last a year or so before they have a mental breakdown. If it gets...

Hi Mark, Yes we do spend that sanding time on the MDF doors hence the reason to go from the Multicam to the Thermwood. The sales man from another German made CNC was bragging that their cnc requiring no sanding. I find that hard to believe. I do think going to all Diamond will improve the cut from t...

Mdf door sanding face and internal grooving

I'm looking at purchasing a Thermwood and have made enquirees about the floating head. I thought this might be good for sanding the MDF doors as we spend about 10 to 30 minutes sanding depending if doors have a simple routed pattern or a pocket design. We currently have a multicam type machine which...

Hi Guys, There is a new version of the Blum corner drawer that doesn't need mitred corners. It folds in on its self when it shuts. Very neat. The old model does require a few hrs. I allowed 4 hrs for 3 drawers. Maybe others can advise if thats too tight or too generous. If your getting the kit try a...

Thanks Brad for the reply. The quickcam side of cadcode produces a CSV which Cadcode grabs and optimises and sends to whatever machine you wish. I think Thermwood can also read CSV's so this may be a beter cleaner way of doing it. With Thermwoods optimiser is that any good? Its just Cadcodes sometim...

Cadcode quickcam and thermwood

I am looking at a thermwood CNC to replace my multicam machine. I have spent a long time getting my system for doing carcass and door work right on my current machine using cadcode and cadcodes quickcam software. I was wondering if anyone knows this software and if I could either stay with this and ...
