Re: A New Direction
We are focusig on any saw that uses an optimizer. Our software will output to an optimizer and any system that uses the resulting output is fair game.

Re: A New Direction
Yes. Actually the Code Splitter is not part of eCabient Systems. It is a stand alone module. eCabinet works just like it does today. The Code Splitter is used when you want to take the .twd output file and send part of it to a panel saw and part of it to a CNC router.

A New Direction
In the next week or so we will start beta testing a new software package that represents a shift in our thinking about eCabinet Systems. The main beneficiaries of this new thinking are somewhat larger custom cabinet shops as well as shops that are currently operating panel saws and pod type machinin...

Re: Furniture Network
The programs are still available. We are working on a new way to just sell them on a CD with no per part fee or carving rental but need to work with the designers to come up with an approach they are happy with. We will contact you about this.

Re: LDE to DXF?
Thanks Mike, this is exactly what we are looking for. Please do send me a typical job so we can see exactly what is needed. We would very much like to make this as good as possible as long as we are going to work on it anyway. We would like to make eCabients a tool that can address this area efficie...

Re: LDE to DXF?
While we are on this subject, we have been having some discussions here about the requirements for DXF files and there are several differing opinions. Perhaps some of you could address the uses for these files and the features that might be required. Several years ago I had some discussions with cab...

Re: LDE to DXF?
Actually we are investigating the possibility of of outputting cabinet level DXFs. If the DXF were dimensionally accurate but only displayed cabinets rather than individual components, we may be able to satisfy everyone. You would have DXF files that could be used for darwings and presentations yet ...

Re: The Future of eCabinet Systems
I would like to add a little background to this discussion. We are working on quite a few areas in the software and are trying to address the most serious Vista issues. It is unlikely we will become totally Vista compliant before Vista is gone. The reason for the current release is that some of us b...

Changing of the Guard
We will have a Thermwood Christmas party today and at that party, three long time employees will be retiring. Ed Haefling was actually Thermwood’s very first employee, starting almost forty years ago. Anyone who has bought a machine may have worked with Ruth Schwinghamer who prepared all the quotes,...

Re: eCabinet Systems, the economy, reality and change
This has been an interesting discussion. We will have some discussions about this approach but I am reluctant to publish an API. My past experience is that it is not as simple as simply publishing and then standing back. It will require assistance and that can be quite disruptive. Also, the only sou...

Re: eCabinet Systems, the economy, reality and change
Thanks for all the comments and ideas. We have been referring to them as we discuss our future direction and structure. Right now our thinking is to continue the core program with all the current features as a free product along with free updates to those primary features. This will insure that the ...

Re: eCabinet Systems, the economy, reality and change
Lots of questions, let’s try to take them in order. First, the furniture. The American Visu furniture is fully assembled and finished. In fact, it is a very high end product with a high quality pre-cat furniture finish. Assembly consists of locating, leveling and assembling the various pieces. Many ...

eCabinet Systems, the economy, reality and change
Last week I responded to some valid concerns about shortcomings of the current version of the software and indicated that we were considering structural changes in the program. We have made and implemented some basic decisions and I would like to explain them to you. The basic idea behind eCabinet S...

Re: Time to Complain
Kerry, you are right. In fact, there are a lot of areas in the software that we are not satisfied with. We have been having discussions here about the future of the program and what we can do to make it better and make us more responsive to these issues. This isn’t as simple as it sounds and involve...

Re: eCabs Mag
Don’t despair the magazine is not dead, it’s just changing. We are working to switch to a new format where the magazine is published electronically on-line. This is a lot more advanced than the PDF files we currently archive with. This is a dynamic format that acts a lot like a paper magazine but al...
