Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances

Without getting into the technical explanation of atmospheric pressure, blah blah blah, all you need to know is the vacuum works through both spoilboards no problem but in order for the sheet to hold down effectively the surface of the sheet needs to make contact with the spoilboard before the vacuu...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances

1.) wasteboard is just a spoilboard on top of a spoilboard basically. The top of the waste-board is zero in most cases but is offset by the material thickness when running a sheet so that the top of the sheet becomes zero and all z values are negative. What it all means though is that the waste-boar...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances

Oh, I'm not knocking the material, I was just thinking about the material being bowed on the side you're trying to machine, b/c it's a p.i.t.a. when that happens. I've never used veneered pb only veneered ply and mdf core, all the pb I run is either melamine or laminated pb. Yes if you only finish o...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances

If the material is a different thickness than what was programmed for then the dado depth will be off. The fit clearance wouldn't be affected as the machine is referencing the bottom of the sheet and leaving the tenon thickness specified, however the joint would no longer be perfectly flush. You mig...

Re: Factors affecting fit and depth clearances

If the material is all of a consistent thickness then .015-.02 should work fine for particle board and mdf. This is more of an issue when using plywood. The problem is that when the material does vary then you'd want to err on the side of too much slop vs too tight. I usually just use .015 for melam...

Re: General Concept of eCabinets

Alter a default base cabinet, wall cabinet and corner cabinet using the material joinery you want. Then you can either insert them into a custom layout and change the sizes when you drop them in or use the batch editor. I find it easier to just use the batch editor unless you have to make drawings/ ...

Re: Bug in the software or me? Please help.

Nothing special about that cabinet, just the nature of the program. Opening size is determined by box opening and fixed shelves/partitions. If you delete a fixed shelf/partition with an associated part the drawer/door will be removed. You basically need to know what reveals you want before hand, if ...

Re: Bug in the software or me? Please help.

You'll have to delete the doors/drawers in this case, and setup the parameters before adding them. Drawer/Door size is determined by opening sizes and reveals. No idea why you have to do it this way but I made a spreadsheet that calculates this for simple cabinets. Saves me time instead of going bac...

Re: Ripping my hair out trying to delete a Stretcher

Stretcher Editor>Click on stretcher>hit your delete key. Maybe your drivers aren't displaying properly but the part should highlight as green if you click it once.

Re: Issue with machining Lock dado

Yeah, I've noticed this glitch too, doesn't hurt anything other than waste a little time though. If you had to do a lot of parts that way I could see it being a problem, I don't worry about it as long as the parts come out right.

Re: Crashing on windows 8

Well you could create a windows xp or windows 7 virtual machine and run via vmware, might work, haven't tested it but I run Autocad 2011 that way just fine, maybe I'll try it out if I get some free time. Are you trying to load an x_t file or dxf? If dxf, you might want to look at the file type you'r...

Re: Crashing on windows 8

If it was me... I'd just downgrade to Windows 7 until there is a fix. As far as constraint manager, it can be a little buggy sometimes depending on what you're trying to do and/or you may have some conflicting constraints or constraints that won't work with re-sizing. I find it more useful for drawi...

Re: Question about Hinge hole patterns for slab doors

Yeah, looks like the only thing you need to look out for is that your edge band thickness is correct and that you are using applied patterns as part editor cuts don't seem to use the same logic. Also, watch out on your upper cabinets if you change material thickness using the twd output, seems to sc...

Re: Question about Hinge hole patterns for slab doors

I've never had to make any adjustments when switching between lam and 3 mil so it must take the thickness into account. I think the door size used to calculate placement is with the edge-band but the door size that is cut on the machine is less the thickness of the band? Take the cab in question to ...

Maybe designate a specific assembly mark that is only used for finished ends if you're using joinery.
