I believe that this will work with any Thermwood control that has control nesting. I am not sure whether you need an update or not. Perhaps one of the software guys could chime in. Also, I believe that this interface will be a separate product from KCDw. You need to check with them for details. You ...

This development and the connections with all other software are intended to offer some new tools. Allowing all software to work easily with our machines should give us an added advantage in the market. Today, software companies spend an inordinate amount of time and effort trying to make their syst...

KCDw and Thermwood

You will all be getting this email shortly but I though you might like a sneak preview. Good News for KCDw Users I know a lot of eCabinet Systems users also use KCDw and since the Las Vegas show we have been working with KCDw to develop a “Job Level” interface between their software and Thermwood CN...

For those using Microvellum you might be interested in knowing that we have been working with them to develop a job level interface between their software and Thermwood CNC routers. One of the big advantages of the eCabient Systems/Thermwood combination is the ease of transferring a job to the machi...

To clarify, we already operate at the job level when sending jobs from eCabinet Systems to the Thermwood CNC. eCabinet Systems sends a single job file not a bunch of individual CNC files. We work at the design level when we import DXF files. DXF is a design file and it is sent directly to the contro...

As for system requirements, we have been trying to reduce basic requirements and get better performance from minimal systems. In doing this, however, we do not want to reduce capability. You should already be starting to see some performance improvements and we will continue working on this but, it ...

We have been using the job level link since the beginning of eCabinet Systems so 91000 users are not negatively affected. These systems should also be able to run any new links that are developed although it may require a software update. As new features are added, you may want to update your system...

Actually, Version 5.2 is coming before Version 6. Our primary goal has been to combine and simplify. In 5.2, the custom layout area will be redone. The three separate areas (walls, cabinets and overall view) will be combined into a single layout area that we hope will be a lot easier to use. Another...

Mike, the company you referred to uses the machine to make prosthetic limbs. The particular program you saw run was a test program to make sure the software machine combination could do everything they might ever want. The rotary axis we used on that project is not the standard rotary playback axis ...

Three axis works for regular turning but not carving. The servo drive can operate continuously like a lathe spindle, in fact we use that set-up on the metal lathe in our plant. We are planning an interface where turned parts can be designed in eCabinet Systems and the run on the rotary playback in a...

We’ve looked at a CNC lathe but because you need a control, servo drives and four axes of motion it would not be much less cost than a CNC router. We also looked at sharing the control between a CNC router and a carving lathe but the cost was still too high in our opinion. We believe the most practi...

I am not sure I understand your question about the rotary playback. The rotary playback axis is a rotary axis that looks like a lathe which mounts to the table of a CNC router. This axis then rotates the part as the machine cuts and carves it. It's great for carved posts and legs. It cannot be used ...

Whenever we quote a table size it means that that is the physical size of the worktable. The actual envalope of the machine is larger to allow trimming around the entire edge of a 4'x8' sheet and also allowing the head to move far enough off the back of the table to reach the tool change tool holders.

Thanks for the kind words Gary, but I must disagree with one of the statements you made. You said that small cabinet shops don’t need the robustness or accuracy, only a lower price. We have learned over many years of experimenting and experience that you really DO need both robustness and accuracy. ...
