Re: Pilot holes for Lock Dado

Doesn't seem to be a straight forward way to do it other than A) make a multi hole pattern and apply as a single or B) use RTA joinery>part editor/save edges>change joinery to full dado> part editor/ load pattern.

Re: Thin Strip of Material at End of Tenon

Can't say I've had this problem, I don't think I have any special settings, usually just use 50% of mat. thickness and .375 deep with .015 depth/fit clearance. I use the same .375 diameter comp. tool for dado, tenons and outlines in most cases.

Re: tool numbering

You might want to archive all of your older programs until you get a chance to comb them over for any unforeseen errors.

Re: drilling holes?

I'll add that I like to keep my operations separate even if the operations are using the same tool. For example, if I want to set up T1 to drill, but will also use it to rout, I'll set up an op. with T1 to drill, then set up another op. to rout with T1. Makes it easier to connect the dots as to why ...

Re: Thin Strip of Material at End of Tenon

Use a larger diameter tool for the tenons by listing your rout/dado tools in order of largest to smallest diameter in your tool setup @ the machine. You may have to adjust your tenon thickness or depth/tenon length depending on your tooling setup.

Re: Fixed shelf Screw holes

Hi, If you need the holes to match a 32mm pattern so you can drill the shelf with a 32mm drill it is impossible to use the RTA pattern unless I am missing something. If you just need holes evenly spaced it will work well. Gerry Maybe you could create an "rta" pattern that has a hole at 0,...

Re: Drill Bank Plunge rate

Your numbers sound right to me, is the chipping really that bad? There's always a little bit of chipping on the top when using the v-point but it's not enough for me to worry about. I've tried higher rpm's/feedrate and that seemed to make it worse. Sometimes the material can be a factor as well. May...

Re: Resetting Control Nesting settings

Maybe do a system restore or re-install control nesting would be my best guess. I always re-install control nesting whenever things get really weird without an apparent reason. I'd try and contact thermwood first though, the nestlib thing doesn't sound right, tool error is pretty normal if you don't...

Perhaps it's your material size? Nested okay for me other than the sheet being bigger than my table.

Re: General questions

Pedro, you can change that number to 3.17mm to match thickness of your saw blade kerf. You can change it to any thickness you want and the nest diagram will change according to your input value. If not using a cnc you can leave it as your saw thickness and not have to worry about it. For CNC, 3/8&qu...

Re: Machine all of the sudden is slowing down on the ramp in

I've experienced glitches with the control nesting material group settings "bleeding through" to other groups when using multiple materials, most notably when using tabs in one group but not another. If I only have one type of material they work as they should. Even if I click ignore group...

Re: Cutting letters from DXF...issue?

Zoom in on the letter and look for breaks or overlapping. Hard to say without looking at the file though. Maybe try putting a fillet in that corner with a radius a little larger than the tool radius. Also, don't use cutter comp.

Windows 8 sounds terrible so far, I think I'll wait for the next version.
