Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Dennis, DO anchor points segment a line? Hypothetically, would having more segments to describe an arc help trick the machine into seeing those small segments as a continuous arc? I'm thinking back to a while ago when I had some "hammering" going on with arcs being nested thru the E-cab li...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Success! Reduced the amount of anchor points and it worked! Brought the DXF into my CAD program and repositioned it to the 0,0. Het explode and saved it off again. Went thru the necessary steps in ecabs and VIOLA!... She took it. Took some time but not nearly as long as the first go around. Added 20...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
O.K.,
that resulted in a script error and a 'object invalid or no longer set' error message when returning to ecabs main cab editor. Hit O.K. and it keeps coming back up agin and again and again... Epic fail.
Will try with fewer anchor points in AI....

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Must have included to many anchor points. Got the geometry to load in the shape editor real slow. went back into part editor and I'm about 5 minutes into the pocket operation. Reminds me of meing back on ancient motorola 68xxx CPU computer. I'm guessing to many anchor points were included in AI? To ...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Interestingly, this was the result of the ai vectors taken into the recommended Draftsight.
were going thru the steps as outlined in Larry's PDF and I will post the results.

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Larry, Will adding anchor points more and more result in shorter and shorter lines to describe the arc? Are we trying to 'trick the machines control software into believing that the pile of straight lines it see's is really just an arc and will cut accordingly? Just trying to better understand whats...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Dennis, Thanks for looking into this. The scaling is strange. I've imported the AI files into Ecabs fine after exploding it a number of times. Having segmented arcs will not work for me. Especially in dealing with typography. I've attached two images of the client supplied artwork. Export out to ano...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Hi Dennis, I don't see a PM yet but maybe they take time to come thru? It's regrettable that Adobe Illustrator and Ecabs won't work well together. I've got a pending contract on some display cabinetry. Display cabinetry usually incorporates some kind of company graphics. In this case we were supplie...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Thanks Jason & Cris, Tried the Draftsight recommended in the thread link and, oddly, it busted up all the arcs into straight line segments by just opening it up. I'm puzzled why this program would do this. Doesn't seem to work for this current DXF issue. Cris, would you be able to explain how th...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Problem with exploding is that it will segment smooth arcs into short straight lines. Bummer. Anyone have a suggestion on getting graphics into shape editor as dxf successfully? Other programs are handling AI dxf files fine and have been. First time I've tried it in Ecabs and it appears it wont play...

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
O.K., I figured it out by accident. Needed to bring DXF from Illustrator into my CAD program and select the drawing and hit 'explode. Doing that and saving it again allowed E-cabs to import the drawing. Weird but worked.

Re: Part editor trouble with DXF again
Allrighty then. Tried bring in the DXF directly from illustrator to E-cabs without running it thru my CAD program. Still no luck. The DXF did import into another carve program and located correctly from where it was drawn in Illustrator.

Part editor trouble with DXF again
Can anyone try and bring this dxf into part editors shape editor and see if it will load for them. Can't get the file to load up for over an hour now. Tried 'washing' the file but no luck with it. Imports into other programs just fine. Was created in Illustrator.
Thanks for any help.

Re: PTrouble with stretcher in part editor.
Thanks Scott, That's awesome! Glad it was the DXF not E-cabs. Odd. Don't know how that z value got where it did. It's only 2-d design. Leave it to me. That's great. Ill post you a bob working 'create part using closed contour' DXF as soon as I generate another. Thanks again for the help. It's apprec...
