As a general rule, we say, all shelves are the same as the top. (Tenon bottom) You could change the tenon \"placement\" for one edge of one side of the shelf. For example, If you usually use 1\" front and back, change the \"right tenon back\" placement to 2\" and it wil...

OK, that got me through today. If I specify drill layer as Drill1 and the dado layer as dado2, for all parts on the sheet. It does the drilling first. Drill1 and dado2 on just one part on the sheet doesn't work. (at least when the part is part2) Can we put the default order of operations back the wa...

Rolling Nest Problem - Order of operations

Prior to 4.79, DXF files run through rolling nest used to always drill first. Now even after putting a 1 after the drill layer name (drill1 z0p76) and a 2 after the dado layer name (dado2 z0p376) the dado is cut first. This is causing huge problems for some of our designs where we drill pilot holes ...

Hi Dan, I run a CNC and edgebanding service, and as you can imagine, get all kinds of requests. This one is a bunch of shelves (yup, just simple rectangles) that they want cut and edgebanded. I could draw each one in a CAD program and create DXF files, I could add them as display panels in eCabs, or...

Rolling Nest BUG

When importing an Excel spread sheet of panels the material is always created with NO grain. Even with \"Yes\" in column \"I\" I tried updating the material and checking the grain box but when I nest it, RN just creates a new material (with the same name) without grain. I'm using...

Just in case you were watching this but missed the RN 4.78 release notes, I think we're there. Yahoooo! Changes/Additions for v4.78 (10/31/05) Some metric through cuts were pocketing the entire area bounded by the cut. (FIXED) Nesting can be accomplished to the edge of the sheet. The option is avail...

Larry,
Wow! Talk about being on the same wavelength. If it weren't for the different layer names, I don't think you could tell our drawings apart from each other.

Here's what I was talking about with the overlapping dados. Many of your lines were still chained to the wrong lines. I use the \"chain select\" command on each dado to ensure it has only 4 lines and doesn't connect to any other lines in the drawing.

Nick is right. After looking at your drawing, it's just not \"clean\" enough for RN to recognize the separate rectangles on the dado layer. Several of the rectangles are made up of 6 line segments. Some of them are chained together creating L shapes. If it's on a dado layer and it's not a ...

Dados are drawn as rectangles, the width of the rectangle is the width of the cut. The layer name determines its depth.

Paul,
I would use the dado layer for these cuts. Create a rectangle for each of the segments and let the controller figure out the tool paths.

Air Assist is an option on Thermwood routers that uses compressed air to pressurize the vacuum table. Instead of pulling the sheet to the table like the vacuum does, it creates a cushion of air that allows the sheet to be easily slid around the table for easy loading and off-loading.
