Guys thanks for the responses, but my software's behavior of loading the right color initially and then immediately changing it to a generic pine tells me something is wrong with my version. I have some other issues with my Microsoft XP that needs repair so I am not going to pursue this little vexat...

Dan, I followed your directions. First, I do not have a \"26\" selection. The highest number I have in imported images is 17 and there seems to be no way to decipher what each number represents in wood type. Even if I select a number, according to your directions, the standard cabinet stil...

Dan, I don't understand your suggestion. Is the \"/26\" the indicator for wood type? Wouldn't all the cabs have the same name if I use your suggestion literally? On another matter I sent you some photos this morning. I've been forgetting to send those. They're 300dpi res. Bryan, Yeah, esse...

Default wood type?

I've noticed that when I select one of the standard cabs to bring into my cab editor they are shown in a wood tone finish/type that looks like walnut but when loaded, it comes up in a generic pine plywood type. This uses time to change each cab to the wood type that I want at the time. Since most my...

Mike, I didn't get notice of your posting on the cherry media wall project, so this is a late reply. Good catch on the grain. That was the result of being forced to orient the grain in the first two cabinets sections because the width was way too wide for regular 8 X 4 sheet goods. In the right cabi...

This one could turn out to be a biggie. Every time I get that queasy feeling about something the customer wants me to do, I insert the following in large type face in the agreement: Customer indemnifies _________________, its officers and employees from any and all damages or claims resulting from t...

Dan, First, I can find no check-off box in any dialog I get as you describe. Can you describe exactly which editor you are in and how you are making and then manipulating the part? Most of my display boards/sheets are not modified in the part editor but are merely trim boards with simple dimensions ...

Dan, Here's what happened to me. The customer added a fireplace mantel assy to the project. I added that section into the wall of cabs I had built. I highlighted only the new cab assy for an independent pricing on that assy alone, and did not get the cost and price merging you alluded to. In fact, i...

Dan,
I must be dumb as a rock.

Hey guys, Getting to this party a little late, but I wanted to get my two cents in on this. The board stock thing is certainly a problem that needs to be solved and there are some very good suggestions in this thread, but unless I missed it, one of my big aggravations is having to go back and recove...

Nevin, Remember that once you create a single display board with the bottle cutouts and place it onto the cabinet, while it is still selected (green mesh over part) you can press Control \"C\" to copy it and Control \"V\" to paste another and then another, etc. without creating e...

Ken, Many thanks for jumping in here. None of us disparage the effort and all of us appreciate the whole scope of what you guys are doing. Really, we do. Your explanation of the behind-the-scenes-efforts is a help for us to know things are really on track after all, and none are lacking of the coura...

Mark, Dan is essentially right. The BIG difference though, is ease of use. Fireworks is WAY more user freindly than Photoshop (at least for me and I have both). I do fear Adobe, now that they own Fireworks and Flash (formerly Macromedia products), will ease Fireworks out of use and support, and forc...

Brian,
There is a little cheating going on. The twist columns and carved corbels were placed in the rendering with a graphics program (Fireworks).
Landed up with an order anyway.

Upgraded Cherry Media/Bar Wall

Here is the final upgraded Media/bar wall from an earlier post. The customer added quite a few items including a mantel, fireplace surround (gas unit), rope twist columns, and mantel corbels. Increased the overall job price substantially. Reminder.......the customer can't see what to add unless you ...
