Re: Aerotech dust free
Will, What bits are you using to cut 4" thick hardwood? Jim, You might try blowing a stream of compressed air right on the bit. ENCO sells a unit with a magnetic base, a valve, and two flexible loc-line nozzles for about $25. The plate on our model 40 that holds the spindle motor is steel, so t...

Re: labeling for edgebander
As it says in my post, we are using Rhino, which is the best software for our purposes. We manufacture cabinetry for big sportfishing boats. 70'-100' boats. We get the hull, soles and bulkheads as a digital file, and design all the interior around the mechanical, electric and plumbing systems. Some ...

labeling for edgebander
We recently bought a Fravol edgebander. Awsome machine! We use PUR glue so we need to run as big a batch as possible to be efficient. We've always been frustrated by the lack of control over the labels. We finally came up with a reasonable solution. Why not just let the router write on the part? Mos...

Forrest,
We're using #3184m bits. I think it has to be the hpl.

Re: new feature request
Yeah, I was part of that 4-5 years ago. Haven't heard anything lately. I've been reading the woodweb cnc forum and it seems like these features are common with a lot of other machines. Why not ours?

Leuco tools
Anybody try Leuco tooling? We recently switched from Formica to Wilsonart laminates on our liteply material because our panel products supplier had trouble with the Formica adhering to the liteply product. The wilsonart stuff is dulling our tooling almost immediately. The top laminate dulls a notch ...

new feature request
Would be really, really nice if we could have a double pass feature where the first pass is .030 outside the outline and second pass is the outline cut. As long as we're wishing, how about the first pass in "double pass" being climb cut and second pass conventional? We're trying to elimina...

Re: Automatic oilers?
Terry, Before you pull the bearing off, do a simple test. Pull the oiler line off the bearing and aim it at a piece of glass ( a drinking glass works). If it's working, you will see a film of oil on the glass. If it's not working, hit e-stop and blow in the tube. This might dislodge any debris in th...

holding solid wood
We've been doing more and more cutting of curved solid wood pieces, mostly teak. Up to 12/4 thick and 12" x 96". We've tried everything to hold it down. Right now we put a 3/4 sheet of plywood down and set the wood blank on top. Run the program so it just skims the blank and screw it down ...

Re: Problem with label
Gary, We had problems with tracking on our 2005 labeler from the get-go. Turns out the plastic keeper that holds the label roll on the shaft was not tight enough to keep the roll in place. Our fix was to put a small rubber o-ring on the shaft to hold the keeper firmly against the roll of labels. No ...

Re: Multipule pass cuts
Terry, You're right, Max Penetration does have to do with the maximum depth a tool will cut-- per pass. If you specify it as 1/2", the machine will make 1/2" passes until it reaches the material thickness you specified. I do believe you can leave a skin, BUT our operator has been experienc...

Nesting
I'd like to commend you folks at Thermwood on your continuing efforts to upgrade control nesting for us. There is one recent change, though, that seems like a step backwards that I would like to bring to your attention. It's the new "Nesting Parameters" box. We cut a lot of odd shaped piec...

Re: Double pass / Max penetration ?
Stephen, The "Max Penetration" setting keeps a tool from being used at a depth greater than this amount in 1 pass. If a depth of cut is greater than this amount Control Nesting will perform the operation in incremental passes at the "Max Penetration" amount until the operation i...
