Re: Hold Down Fixture

Thanks, I'll certainly try the dust packing method, still just curious if you can machine an entire sheet with this mat though, I run into small parts all the time and it would be nice if there was an easy way to machine them and save time. I guess there's only one way to find out, just wondering if...

Re: Hold Down Fixture

Kerry, Take a look at this YouTube video. Thermwood Sizing Solid 5 Piece Doors On A Flat Table (Be patient with the intro... and note that at around 1:47 there is an example of machining the exterior of just a frame with NO CENTER PANEL.) The material use on the table is "FSE0135 - Thermwood -...

Re: Cutting Aluminum

6061 machines well on a router, you just need the right bit (spiral o flute designed to cut aluminum) and the right feed and speed, climb cut, it cuts a lot slower than you would cut a piece of wood. You'll need to make sure the stock is held down well enough that it won't vibrate or move, vacuum ma...

Re: Signs from DXF

It would be nice if islands in pockets were supported, I'm not complaining though, dxf nesting is great for simple parts. I've seen people on here post ways to do this by dividing entities with islands into separate pockets... looks time consuming, but not impossible. Another way to do this is to ma...

Re: Wireless connection from PC to router

I'm not a networking expert by here's my setup: The cnc is connected to a 5 port switch via 100-200 ft ethernet cable, the 5 port switch is connected to the router via 100-200 ft cable. Then I mapped the data folder of the Thermwood as a network drive and it now shows up under my computer. I can als...

Re: Grain Match on multiple adjacent cabinets?

You could group doors within cabinets then nest each cabinet one at a time, nesting each consecutive cabinet into the off fall of the previous cab that was cut out; that's how I'd do it anyway.

Re: Label Alignment Issue

I haven't tried using an inkjet printer but I imagine the dymo label printer is much faster and more cost efficient. You can pick one up cheap on ebay if you don't already have one. You can get cheaper knock off brand labels too.

Re: melamine tooling

I've found that if you're plunging straight down or if your hole is not much bigger than the tool diameter, a straight flute will work better than a down shear in melamine. For dados and other routing I'd use a down shear or compression with a mortising tip; depending on how deep you're going.

Re: Wasteboard question

If your mdf is already .096 then I don't think you even need to surface it, just use it and throw it away.

Re: DXF Clean Up tool Problem

Post the file you're having trouble with. Check your tool tolerance in the tool settings of control nesting, see if any tools are set to interpolate also.

Re: How to add Dados to stretcher?

I think if you use a top and change your top type to "top stretcher" it will do what you are wanting; instead of trying to use stretchers applied in the stretcher editor.

Re: how to put associate handles to doors

Yes, you have to create a hole pattern in the editor, select it from the pulls menu on the right and apply it with the add/locate pull menu on the left.
