Re: Counter top joins

Doing the bull nose with the profile modeler? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. You could conceivably cut the bull nose on the router with a set of vacuum pods (lifts the work from the work surface) and the correct bit, but I thought you'd cut it before it get postformed? My understanding of the pr...

Re: Counter top joins

The process I use, YMMV: tops that are rectangles: cut on the saw. no sense in tying up the router for this. our saw is not fully integrated for this, so I make a quick excel doc (attached) and draw them with the borders for cells. probably not the fastest but very clear for the assembly crew. Tops ...

Re: An Active Forum is a Strong Forum

After working through similar problems in eCabS, I too can attest to the absolutely USELESS error messages. If the dialog told me what damn rabbit to chase, then I would gladly do it. As others had stated, It's usually operator error, and all you need is a clue about which part or operation or const...

Re: pasted parts in CN

Clint, Good to know, I guess I've been well enough off to never have to do anything but resize that window in CN. It seems strange to me that a pasted part wouldn't index to a corner of the work or a corner of the machine. Or even the center. I often don't realize the paste action has completed unti...

pasted parts in CN

If I load a nest of parts, and nest on some off-fall, often the last part or two will land on its own sheet because of a strange nest. No problem, i can manually cut that piece from the final sheet and nest it manually on one of the previous sheets. Problem is when I paste it, it often ends up off t...

Re: Cut Quality Issue with Thermwood 90 and Mastercam

Lurker here, Curious to know if this was diagnosed. It looks to me like the flutter from insufficient fixturing or the geometry of the curve being broken into line segments (polyline, spline, curve). None of my business, but curious to see what the remedy was. Thanks.

Re: Make a MDF door with a flat "raise"

Maybe it's a protocol problem, I was profiling first, then pocketing. It couldn't make a pocket that touched the profile. I'll try to see if this works tomorrow, Thanks.

Make a MDF door with a flat "raise"

I'm struggling with an MDF door that is supposed to look like a five piece. I want the interior edge of the frame bits to have a profile, and the panel to be flat. I can't seem to create a tool that makes the panel flat and recessed across the whole field of the panel, and I cant seem to fudge it by...

Re: "Air cut"

That's the brilliant answer I was looking for. I should have know this intuitively; I often manually change the wasteboard thickness in tune with changes in the weather so as to keep from rutting up the spoilboard too deeply. Thanks to everyone!!

"Air cut"

I've been asked by our CabinetVision integrator if I know how to "air-cut". I have never done this before on our thermwood, and don't really know if there is a quick and dirty setting somewhere in control nesting to do so. My first instinct is to just change the Z offset for the program, t...

Re: What is wrong with this cabinet?

Rob, for some reason your cabinet has two left ends???? I think that's your issue. When I grab the one and delete it, another one is revealed. How on earth do you even GET two left ends? Also, If we can have two left ends, then that might solve some cabinet conundrums I've had trouble desig...

Re: Cutting Plexi glass

Not trying to be obtuse, but there are two general types of Plexi, cast and extruded I think. They both machine a bit different, but if your edge finish isn't critical, then it won't likely matter for you. I use these settings for a 3/8" O flute mirror finish Onsrud bit (62-733). 100IPM feed, 1...

Re: importing a DXF File

More than one way to skin a cat, but here is one way I know of: Create a display panel of appropriate material and overall size. Take panel to the part editor and click on the contour button in the toolbar. Load your dxf file into the contour editor. Use the dxf vectors to define operations on your ...
