Re: How to create an over the sink / window valance?

Here is a cabinet I made by deleting the back, deck, and all parts of the face frame except the top rail. I made the top rail the same width as the cabinet is tall.

Re: Countertop anomaly? Messing up my renderings now...

Derek,

I downloaded your job, and if you go to the counter top editor, highlight that countertop, click edit countertop, then click OK, the extra part dissappears.

Re: Countertop anomaly? Messing up my renderings now...

Derek, I have had this happen 4 or 5 times. For me, it happened when I take a cabinet from custom layout to the cabinet editor to edit it. When I return it, part of the cabinet shows as part of a countertop as your picture shows. It has also happened when I resize a cabinet in custom layout. Whateve...

Re: Corner Sink Bases

Terry, The corner sinks I have done cover 44" of the wall out of each corner. I believe the inset is 5". I have built 2 of the inset corners, but it has been a while. I have attatched the corner sink in the design picture I posted. It has the raised back attatched to it and is an assembly....

Re: Corner Sink Bases

Here are a couple kitchen designs I have done with corner sinks. We will be building the one with the fluted posts on it in a month or so. The one with the inset sink, the customers change the layout completely, so there is no corner sink in it.

Re: Knobs and Pulls

Gary, I noticed after the last build update that one of the handles that I use a lot would triple the file size of any cabinet or job I was working on. It is the Hafele 10433300 zinc handle in black matte. I had a job that was so large of a file that I couldn't do any editing of anything. I started ...

Re: Corner cabinet installation

Scott, We have built quite a few of the corner uppers that set on the counter. We install them to the ceiling until the counter is in then go back and lower them and trim. One thing we do different than your design is build them with a floor and bottom rail. If you did this, and had the substrate fo...

Re: Angled corner upper bug

Justin, I started over with the standard corner upper cabinet and built it the same as the one I am having problems with. I got the same results doing it this way. You can remove the right side and apply insets to the top, deck, and shelf with no problems. When you remove the left side and apply ins...

Re: Angled corner upper bug

Justin, Here are 2 assemblies I made using this cabinet. One has a panel end on the right side and the cutlist is OK on it. The other one has a panel end on the left side and is the one that is not working right. I am going to start with the same seed cabinet I used to make this cabinet and rebuild ...

Angled corner upper bug

I think I have found a problem with angled corner upper cabinets. When I delete the left end, set all joints to the left end as butt joints with a 1/2" inset, the shelf, deck, and top do not size right. All should be 25" X 25". With this problem, it is causing the deck and top to be 2...

Image Loss

I keep losing the image to my Red Oak board stock. It seems to happen randomly. The only way to fix it is to close out the cabinet and job I am working on and reapply the image in stock materials. Here is the cabinet I was working on when it happened the last time. I took it to the cabinet editor, c...

Re: Glass/Mirror Settings

Here is how I do mirrors. I use a display cube 1/4" thick and the size I want for the mirror. Use the black melamine in my solid colors for the image. When you render this, set the shine for the display cube at 100%. Someone posted this tip a year or 2 ago, and it works very well.

Re: Raise Panel

Gary,

I brought an old post back to the top that is about panel ends and bar backs made with the face frame method. I have a lot of panel ends saved in one of my libraries. I'll try to make it in to the shop tomorrow and post some of them for you.
