New Design
Here is a set I'm actually designing for another shop. They are needing to farm out the design work as they are a one-man shop. The project is totally Euro with flitch-cut ribbon-striped mahogany. It's supposed to be asymetrical in design, and the countertop is as yet undecided. There is a strong po...

In this economy you have to find ways to get more work, right? I've got an opportunity to use eCabs where I will be able to rent out my time on the computer to generate drawings for the owner of a very small, one-man shop. We live in the Chiwaukee (Chicago-Milwaukee corridor) area and the quickest f...

Re: eCabinet Software Poll
I'm still a neophyte to the business but I use ecabs to nest my materials and then buy the materials wherever I can. I keep up with local prices (I'm in the Chiwaukee, that Chicago and Milwaukee, corridor) and that gives me good access to all kinds of lumber and material. Ecabs helps me get in the b...

Re: Finding Your Niche
Thanks Mark, It turns out that I didn't get the bid. In a way I'm kind of relieved. It seems the customer was working within a tight budget (wanted granite tops) and someone else beat me out of it by around $2000. It is interesting living in this part of the world. As we live in and area with 4 Supe...

Finding Your Niche
E-Cab community, I've mentioned on a couple of posts about a large job I'm bidding on currently. There are 100+ doors along with the various appliance garages, glass doors with mullions. For me it's a big opportunity to break out for a big project. I've been in construction for 20+ years and have be...

Re: Cherry Cabinets in a 20x20 Garage
Thanks for your comments and encouragement. I've already considered outsourcing the doors and will probably do so for the case parts. There are at least 20 cabinet shops within a 40-mile radius and they all produce just about the same product. I'm trying to be a better student of my competition and ...

Re: Cherry Cabinets in a 20x20 Garage
Yeah, you're right. I'm currently bidding a job twice this size with over 100 doors on it. There is almost 40 lf of cabs. There's the full compliment of appliance garages, glass doors, tiers, wine racks, display cabs, etc. If I keep getting work like this I'll have to blow some wall out somewhere an...

Cherry Cabinets in a 20x20 Garage
Here is a cherry kitchen I completed last year. The customer was in a pinch and needed cabinets quickly. A mutual business associate gave this family my name and a glowing recommendation to get a bid and measure the cabinets. The family told me they were under deadline to order their granite and the...
