My experience parallels Kerry's. Heavy computing (as in changing material thickness on a large job) is faster as the processor speeds up. Rendering can be done on most any decient graphics card. However if you put the images side by side differences show up in the way shadows, reflections and colour...

The issue with the import (China Birch) is that it is never very flat. So when the router cuts smaller parts they can break the vacume on the table. If your tolerances are set up right a little variation wont be an issue. The only reason the CNC is more sensitive is because we tend to have more open...

LOL, this has been an entertaining thread. I think I will post some pics of my \"spray booth\" but yall have to promise not to tell anyone about it. I second Kerry's router..... Dalhart.....hmmm I think that is driving distance from DFW. I'm sure that Kerry wouldn't mind shareing his donat...

How about the top edge, do you band it? I am not against man-made materials, but I am hesitant to use this stuff on drawers. If it holds up I think I would like it.

Al,

Aparently they like the way it uses (or dosen't use) the systems resourses. there were a lot of AVG users as well, but I found enough convincing posts with technical reasons that NOD is better. The forums I was looking at were for Inventor, Solid Works, Catia and the like.

Do you worry about water damage, MDF is very susceptable and even wet hands and splashes from not-quite-dry items could cause issues after some time. Is it something that you offer on builders grade cabinets as a cost saving measure?

Thanks,
Mike

Nick, And other interested shoppers, you can buy a new in the box, warrantied, m90 on Ebay from reputable resellers for signifigantly less than what Dell's price is. You get the same service from Dell, the same support and warranty. The Ebay guys have the machines in stock (unless otherwise noted) a...

Dear lord Dale, That makes my stomache turn. Not because it is gross, because it is too close to home! I am so sorry for your loss and I am impressed by your attitude. The closest near miss I have had was when I was ripping a stack of shelves that had to be glued up (two 3/4\" pieces laminated ...

Forrest,

What is the \"fiber core material\" that you are using? Do you have the trade name, and is it MDF? And of course..... what does it cost?

Thanks,
Mike

Travis, I apologise for not answering your actual question. I am embaresed to admit that I spend a LOT of time on my designs. But it is not a fault of the software. I tend to take jobs that require a lot of time to design, and really Ecabs has sped up the process a lot because after the design is co...

Gene, I had the the same issue. It turned out that the percentage thickness is a value determined by the tooling and the material thickness. There are also tooling values that had to be changed on mine as well due to the different tooling that the shop used. Including the angle of the dove tail bit ...

I too am a stickler for safety, including ear and eye protection. I had the oportunity to work in a shop where I would have been able to do some exciting things. One of the first things I noticed when I toured the shop was the horrible lack of safety measures. Even dust collection seemed to consist ...

Forrest, I sent the file before we started, just barely, and the file looked good as far as construction details and clearence values. I am definately glad that I went to the shop (even though it was a 5 hour drive each way) to get this job done. I see now some of the issues that I have to watch out...

Thanks Jason, We did that and most of the part editor cuts dropped out and the drawer boxes had to be resized (the side inset values for the cabinets), and what do you sujest for the dovetail tooling issues? And so I understand, all I should do is design with generic thicknesses (.75, .5, .375, etc)...

I have used other software packages as well, and Ecabs definately falls short of some of the better ones out there. Mostly it is the automated featires such as the ones you described. I can think of several other things as well, like the method of adding drawers and mouldings. Some things to remembe...
