Re: Windows 7 and eCabinets

The XP virtualization introduced into Windows 7 is actually updated technology based on Microsoft VirtualPC, which Microsoft acquired from a company called Connectix (run Windows on PowerPC-based Macintoshes) so--in part--they could develop for the PowerPC-based XBox 360 and still run Windows. See M...

Re: Windows 7 and eCabinets

The main issue in Vista with backwards compatibility is what's referred to as User Account Control (UAC). In Vista, it had two settings, either on or off. With Windows 7, there are now four settings for UAC:

The changes allow some fine tuning by the local administrator.

I cannot divulge too much about products in development, but Windows 7 is not being ignored here.

Re: Graphics Card in a new Dell desktop

The Dell Precision T3400 Workstation has the 256MB nVidia Quadro FX 570 graphics card available as an option and can still be ordered with Windows XP 'downgrade'.

Re: <removed by admin>

This same principle of buying and selling of OEM software in the retail market also applies to Academic versions. Software vendors, with less than genuine intentions to help students low on cash, offer 'academic' versions of their software at often much lower prices than retail. With academic discou...

George,

I hope you take this the right way, but I'm gonna blot out your initial post in order to stop the spread of this likely illegitimate web site.

Careful, Dan, don't take the topic on a side street. We'd like to see this one stay on topic.

Re: software problems

David, I have reproduced the crash on VMWare 2.0.2 for Macintosh. Unfortunately, the crash does not occur on VMWare 6.5.1 for Windows nor does it occur on native Windows Vista x64 (my workstation). At the current time because of the unsupported platform, we won't be able to work on your issue. That ...

Re: software problems

David, I have setup your VM and am unable to reproduce the problem. Please ZIP your job file and email it to cabinets@ecabinetsystems.com and put Attn: Dean in the subject. I'll test it. Again, I want to state that using eCabinet Systems in a Virtual Machine is not supported. VMWare's virtual machin...

Re: software problems

David, As I recall from another post, you are running a Mac with virtualization. Please provide the Virtual Machine (VM) settings; this would help with debugging. Technically speaking, the Mac and virtualization aren't really supported. Here's what you should post about your virtual machine: 1. Virt...

Re: Question about time

Every machine is different and that's what makes CNC Automation's Cut-Time so valuable if one has a machine. Machining time can vary based on accelerations, as Brad noted, and tooling used because this in part determines top speed of the machining operation. Different machines may also have differen...

Re: Inventory Control

<<snip>> one hicup in the system and it all goes down the tube. One must be completely diligent and disciplined to make sure to enter every transaction or the whole inventory levels will be off. None of the type of thinking where one might say, "I'm in a hurry; I'll make note of this inventory...

Re: ANY ONE USING ECABINETS ON A MAC?

Yes, the Macintosh's graphical user interface (GUI) is focused on OpenGL and not DirectX, which is a Microsoft-only protocol. OpenGL is a 3D standard adopted by Linux, Unix, Mac, and other non-Microsoft O/S's. I had a chance to play with eCabinet Systems running in a Macbook Pro through Parallels th...
