ok, set the material thickness setting so that it would use my 1/2\" outline tool to hog out around the tails... only problem is that the outline tool cut too far. It took off the tips of the tails, and made nicks in the body of the drawer box part. I checked my diameters and they are right. I ...

Ryan As soon as it picks up the 1/4 bit, we are cranking the feed override down to about 50%. I just set the material thickness setting and am waiting for the code to write to try again (btw, it just snapped another bit... now I am on my last one) I will let you know how it goes. Forest It is cuttin...

male dovetail tool snapping

I am having trouble with cutting some dovetail drawers today. I have just replaced the 1/4 dia downshear bit which is used for the male dovetails for the 5th time over 5 sheets of drawer parts. The bit keeps snapping right at the collet. I even replaced the collet after the second one snapped, there...

to continue a little further from where Dan was heading... The joinery options depend on how the part is constructed. ie does the top connect to the sides, or do the sides connect to the top. If you change the placement so that the Top is flush, it should open those boxes to select the joinery for t...

Hey Russell Another way to make sure that it is a closed contour is to trim all the points where lines intersect. Pick \"trim two entities\" and then select either line at every intersection. I believe that it will give you the \"closed contour\" error even if you just have line ...

Are you using the \"group\" function in ecabs? As far as I understand it, whichever order you enter the fronts in the grouping function, that is the order that they will be grouped in when nesting. In other words, make sure you \"add to group\" front 1,2, then 3. Otherwise, if yo...

Thanks Todd I ended up entering a dovetail drawer without a front, then creating a second drawer with just a side and back(which they can use as the 2 front pieces). The guys in Specials Dept will just have to cut some miters and pin them together... and cut the bottom to fit. Shouldn't be a big pro...

corner dovetail drawers...?

is there a way to create dovetail drawers for a corner unit (inside corner), where the drawers pull-out 45 degrees to the cabinets on either side of it? So basically it would end up being a 5-sided drawer, with 2 fronts which extend back into the drawer box? I know it won't be possible to create a d...

not sure if it might be a similar event or not, but I ran a bunch of dovetail drawers a couple of weeks ago and the bottom for one drawer came out short by about 1/2\", and the sides for a second drawer were short by about the same. They were different width drawers, so I didn't just mix up the...

Hey Greg, for something like that (which could be quite useful) I think there would have to be some sort of network connection and communication between the supercontrol and the desktop so that the desktop is updated with tool sizes and other settings. I would love to be able to share offcuts betwee...

be careful that you don't over-use the bits before sending them for sharpening. What I mean is when the bits get really hot for a long time, they tend to make the metal soft, and no matter how much you try to re-sharpen them, they just won't be able to hold the edge for long. Our guys have been pret...
