Machining Pocket Screws

All, Tried our first pocket screw joinery on a small test cabinet. It did not make the pockets. It drilled the 1/8" hole for the step and it drilled, retracted to above the surface and then angled out to what should have been a pocket but it was in space above the sheet. It never made the actua...

Re: Version 6.0 Build 11

Am getting "data execution prevention" which stops download and shuts down computer. I successfully loaded this once and after "verifying" license, it killed my whole computer and went to safe mode. Suggestions?

Re: Offset at end of tenon

brad,
we use a 3/8 compression tool to outline. The dado is done by either the same tool or a 1/4" straight tool or a 3/16 straight cutter, depending on the "width" of the tenon. The material is 3/4 plywood with actual thickness of 0.726" on average.

Re: Offset at end of tenon

Before you all respond it is in my tool diameters, I measured them and they are correct to within 0.003 or so.

Offset at end of tenon

We machine for others and one of my customers is having an issue that I don't see on our stuff. Any idea why he is seeing this? I think it might be related to the fit and depth clearance he specifies. We set ours at 0.015 and his is 0.040. We have tried to get him to reduce this because we think it ...

Re: Hinge Hole

JNR,
Thanks! I thought it was some pocket setting. So do you think we made it too small or too big? I think we need to go bigger. Agree?

Hinge Hole

Today's quiz: Any idea what setting we have changed to make our hinge hole come out like this instead of an empty pocket?

Re: Problem during tool length opp

Before you estopped, did you take speed dial to 0? head will traverse but not go down if speed variable is on 0. Just wondering if you are like me and sometimes can't see the forest in the middle of the trees.

Best method for us is to download the update to the computer and then make absolutely certain that you run as administrator.

Re: Flip op miscutting

Problem resolved. Issue was ours, not Thermwood! Ever feel like choking your help??? Here is what I sent to Joe at Thermwood outlining the solution. One big lesson is to re-verify the G52 locations if you ever get a C marker error and have to reset the axis. I am convinced that is the start of this ...

Re: Flip op miscutting

Daniel, Flip Ops are the absolute worst and we avoid them like the plague. Any program we write has no flip ops. Unfortunately we didn't write this one but machine has done it before just a week ago. Wil, I checked G52L this morning and all are dead on within 0.004. Outline tool is correct and diame...

Re: Flip op miscutting

Wil, thanks a ton. New day, new perspective. My plan is to verify my fixture offset by locating a sheet and then going to G52L1 and see if I am correct. Then I am going to (I think) find that X axis is out by 1/2 of 1/8" probably from the C marker reset we had to do. Correct my offset in contro...

Re: Flip op miscutting

ALWAYS on weekends and ALWAYS when you have a deadline to meet. I got so frustrated I just shut it down and will go back at it tomorrow afternoon. I know we can make the adjustment but actually have 2 questions: 1) Don't we actually have to make 1/2 of the .125 adjustment?? Just checking my thinking...

Flip op miscutting

We successfully were cutting flip operations a couple days ago. Then have been running a series of jobs without flip ops. Now back to flip op job and the X axis is off and flip ops are coming out wrong. See pictures. Y axis appears to be correct. You can see the dado is too long on one side leaving ...
