Re: Operator Training

Fred, we are a small shop with only 14 employees. My operator and I share cutting duties and he cuts >75% and I cut some depending on how busy we are. My operator is responsible for all maintenance, greasing, filling oilers, housekeeping, etc. He also keeps tools sharp and changed as necessary. We d...

Re: 2 finger typists

Al, I just hope this conversation with your wife didn't start with "Honey, I bet after 6 weeks I can type as fast as you..." You'll be eating those words along with doing the cooking!

Al, I know you are trying to learn typing but you better brush up on your cooking skills if you are anything like me!

Re: Hand Held Controller

Nicholas, we ordered our CS45 without one to trry and save some money and within a month or two ended up buying a hand held. We don't use it that often but it is vital to have it when you do need it. I suggest you get it.

Re: Poor edge quality

Jason, excuse me if this seems like 2 elementary questions but here goes: 1) What effect is there if the chip load is too light (i.e. - running FPM too slowly for RPM per chart) as we know too much chip load = overheating, breaking tools, etc but is there a down side for running too slowly other tha...

Re: Poor edge quality

Neville, I'd love some pictures as this is a new one on me and with our machine aging, we are trying to stay ahead fo the simple stuff to keep it runing well. Sounds liek these shoudl be checked from time to time, huh? I think I know to what you are refrencing but to make sure. Thanks in advance. ro...

Re: Cut Through amount

Kerry, my two cents..... When we flycut, we have to fake the machine into thinking the board is 0.002 lower than what we actually cut it to be. I think this is because when we have the waste board on the machine with nothing else, it doesn't compress fully because there isn't enough vacuum to pull i...

Today''s (1-5-12) Woodworking Headlines: Cabinotch Acquired by Columbia Forest Products

Thermwood should not be the sole target of these issues here, CFP should share in the fun, IMO.

Re: G-Code Verification Software/ Backplot

Georgi, we use MAsterCam and it has a backplot and 3D verification run. However, I am only familiar with using it for MasterCAm generated programs. I am not sure if you are asking for this to use on eCabs or not. We use the backplot A LOT when we develop all new programs.

Re: Corrupted file, New update?

Maybe a clue but another piece of information is that I use my computer in a "user" mode and am not logged on as Administrator for hacking prevention. Before the rebuild, I used to save my job file, log on as administrator, open eCabs, get the job file and then make my twd (have to be admi...

Re: Corrupted file, New update?

I thought it was just an operator error on our end but we are having the same issue here. Missing cabinets after updating software.

If you have employees....

This 1 page article appeared in our state email magazine. I put a copy in all my employees' paychecks as it was an excellent reminder to them from someone who is in our business.
Just thought I'd share it with you as it is worth reading.

Thanks for posting the resolution. Too often the issue gets solved but the answer isn't posted. Glad you got it figured out. Don't feel bad as I don't know what the x/y lash or leash is either!

Re: Model 53 Bad Wobbly cuts

Zach, did you figure this out? If the bearings were this bad the vibration and noise would be deafening. Is the material wood you are cutting? And are you using a real small cutter where you might get tool deflection or material hardness variations? If you think about bearings and tooling turning 15...
