countertop question

Post by Darren Harvey »

good morning. i'm working in the layout section. i'm trying to place a counter top on my 2 cabinets. the problem is that i have 2 display panels on my left cabinet. and when i go into the counter top section they disappear. the display panels have been associated to the cabinet. but i' at a lost. how am i able to keep the display panel there because i need them in the final nest. thanks for your help, darren

The Countertop Editor has no relationship with Display Panels. It will only display base cabinets.

Back in layout, go to the cutlist. The Display Panels should be listed.

If you need the countertops to extend to or beyond the display panels, you'll need to apply an overhang to the pertinant side or sides that have the panel installed. So you need to know/remember where the display panels are.

Darrin,

Not sure why the display panel is not staying there, but they are showing up in the nest. So for putting a counter top on the project you are going to have to fill the empty corner with a cabinet make the counter top then delete the cabinet in the corner you made.

Regarding the mitered puzzle joint: The only possibility that I can think of is by using the Part Editor to create all of the geometry, but that would be difficult and very time consuming.

My basic answer is no, but then there are some very astute users out there that can possibly change the settings in some fashion and alter the face frame. In the end though, the changes would be extensive and I think you'd end up making this into an assembly with the face frame as a separate cabinet.

dennis, thanks again. it was my puzzler for the day.

gary, the 2 base cabinets come together to make the 90degree corner. the display panels show up in the nest. it's in counter top construction. i need a 90degree, not a miter front. thanks for your all your help.

Darren here are the steps to take to construct a counter top. Because of the way I uploaded the last step shows up first .

Here is one that I use for the corner
The way I look at it is do need to put studs on the walls to hold the counter top up right.
My corner stud cabinet can be resized
The corner 2-1/4"filler is a corner cabinet and the filler can be resized in to the left or right.
The right can be 6" W and the left can be 2" W
