Problem doing a fillet in PE

Post by JohnLashuay »

Hey Guys!

I am currently running 6.1 and I am having difficulty cutting a fillet into a part in the part editor. I first give it a rectangle notch and then try to fillet the one corner and it will not work for me no matter how small of a fillet I try.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-John

Hi John,

Inside corner filets were a problem during Beta testing and it looks like they didn't get fixed before the release.

Thanks Kerry!

Do you know if this is on the list or should I post it in the Beta forum?

John,

Kerry is correct, this has been an issue and did not make this release. No need to post this on the Beta forum.

However, there are ways of working around this for now. You can create your cut path in the contour mode of the Part Editor. Once you have a path created, you can cut or pocket this path in the part editor. This is a bit of extra work, but at least it will allow you to do what you need.

If one way does not work, there is usually another to get the job done.

Hope this path helps you out.

I was just going to post the same problem when I read this, the thing is I did it all the time time in the previous version, just yesterday I made a fan cutout in a AV cabinet 4 3/8 square with 1" radiused corners tried it today in version 6 and it no longer works! What changed in the new version?

Hi Terry!

The difficulty of making changes to the software is that it can cause adverse effects to other areas of the software. V6 was a huge renovation, therefore the long beta testing. I'm sure, as the programmers continue to improve Ecabs, this will be fixed and other areas will continue to get better.

Take your part into the "Part Editor" then go into the "Contour Edit"

Create a rectangle using the "Line Mode."

Click the "Fillet" button and it will ask you for the radius you would like.

Then hover over each of the 2 intersecting lines and select them when they turn red. Once you select the 2nd line it will automatically radius the corner.
