Catalog Cabinets not working properly

Post by Kerry Fullington »

Another eCabinets Member reported this issue on the Wood Web.
If you place a catalog cabinet in a room the price you have given the cabinet is not properly reflected in the cost sheet etc.
You can also Edit or re-size the catalog cabinet which the users manual states you should not be able to do.

Well, the bottom line (Selling Price) seems to be correct, but it's not quite the kind of information that I would personally like to see. I would prefer to be able to have a Price per Cabinet listing for all of the catalog cabinets that are selected. I would not classify this as a bug, but maybe I'm missing something.

Joe,

You must be seeing something different.
I placed a catalog cabinet in a room priced at $2000.00 When I run a cost sheet I get this
cost.jpg
cost.jpg (110.57 KiB) Viewed 6479 times
Notice the material price and the rest is Profit/Catalog cabinets

I have no profit entered in preferences
price.jpg
price.jpg (149.5 KiB) Viewed 6479 times
And the total price is wrong any way.

The cost sheet also priced the materials wrong also.

It looks broken to me.

Add to that the fact that you can still edit the catalog cabinet from the room which is not supposed to happen.

No Gary,

When you save a cabinet you have the option to save it as a Catalog Cabinet. This sets a price for the cabinet regardless of material costs etc. Like the Big Box stores.
When you save a cabinet as a catalog cabinet it will have a Copyright symbol next to the cabinet name letting you know you can't edit this cabinet.

Thanks Kerry,

Well I know this has nothing to do with this thread, but I figured out how to explode a image to give it different textures. I was making out to be way more complicated than it really is.

Kerry,

When I did my original test I just took a cabinet from the Standard directory. Saving one of those as a catalog cabinet will generate the correct Selling Price. It appears that the bug is that if you are using hardware in a catalog cabinet hardware costs are erroneously added to the Selling Price.

This is how all of this started. I am looking to start selling box cabinets too. The box cabinets have a fixed selling price no matter what. a B33 is $256. I wanted to be able to add all of the cabinets to a catalog where I can lay someones room out and print a price for the room. I would actually like it too if it was possible to set up a selling price and a cost. Where I can enter that I pay $188 for the cabinet, and sell it for $256. So I can print it both ways. That would be a real handy step and would help the program compete with a broader base of programs. Also while I am on the subject, being about to display the catalog cabinet name in the line editor would be great. It would be a lot easier than typing it in on every cabinet. I am trying to work towards where I can layout a room of cabinets like someone at homedepot does. It only takes a few minutes and it is not that hard for them to lay it out and give a price. And yes I know they are working with 20-20 and it is a far cry from being free.
