Regen causes Backwards Geometry Cut

Post by JohnLashuay »

Here is a corner shelf that I made up. When I take it into construction settings and just OK it, the results is the opposite of the radius that I cut into it.

Any ideas what is wrong with this?

After looking further into this it seems as though a KD settings error is causing this response. I fixed the KD setting and it works properly now.

Is this a bug?

The other thing I notice with this cabinet is when I hit the "Home" button it actually zooms out therefore causing it to be small and not fill the screen size.

Maybe there is more wrong with this cabinet then I realize.

John,

It is not the KD message causing this trouble. The top has a problem that looks like an old issue. Select remove Part Editor cuts from entire cabinet and then add the fillet back on the top and all will work correctly. It appears that you first saved this cabinet in bld. 5 today. Would you still have a version of it somewhere that is still Bld4 or older that you could get me? I would like to verify my thoughts on this.

John,

The zooming issue is a bit odd. Did this cabinet at some point have a drawer box in it? You can fixed the zoom by setting a drawer box default (any dbx) in both the Drawer Box Editor and in the Door/Drawer Editor areas (you do not have to add a dbx, just set one default in each area). This action flushes some odd default dbx segments hanging out. If you have an older version of this cab, please attach it for me, if not don't worry about it. Thanks...

Hi Scott!

Is there a way to tell what build a cabinet was built in? I started noticing a few cabinets that seem to have this zoom issue so I am trying to weed them out. I'll try to correct them with the drawer setting as I find them.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to find an old cabinet unless there is some easy way to tell what build it was. I look though!

Thanks for checking this out!

By the way...we are no longer running bld 5 on any computer so I'm not sure why it would look that way unless a bld 5 cabinet was modified without being regenerated. Is that possible?

John,

When I say bld 5, I mean V6 Bld 5 (the latest release). Not V5

I should have known that... :)

I'll still try to get you an old cabinet.

Odd zooming issue Re: Regen causes Backwards Geometry Cut

Scott,

I also got this odd zooming out issue, but with a base corner cabinet, I was using an upgraded, v5 to v6, base corner cabinet from my own library to place in room layouts. And every time I took it from a room to cab editor it zoomed way out; playing with it I saw that a shelf opening hight in it was being drawn way up (or down) as if I had placed it two or three cabinet hights above it (the original opening hight I had placed it at was 0mm).

So I placed it back at 0mm and some times it came back to the right place but some times not, some times I removed the shelf and placed a new one back and it stayed in place for a while, only some times.

So my final solution was to re-make my cabinet for my library from scratch from the standard corner cabinet in v6 bld5. And so far it has not shown any troubles, yet. So I´m happy now, but was worried for a while. if it happens again I'll let you know.

Cesar,

If you have the original V5 version of this cabinet, please attach it and I will see if I can discover what might have happened to it in you case.

Scott,

Here is the original v5 cabinet.

When in cabinet editor, if I press home, it zooms out, go to shelf/partition editor and you'll see an opening hight of 2874mm.
regards,

Cesar
